FIVE STAR CELEBRATION DAY

Yesterday our school held  a 'Green Day' to celebrate our accreditation as a Five Star Sustainable School. This is a massive achievment for our school and means we are one of only 17 schools who are currently have 5 star accreditation (and only one of approximately 80 schools who have achieved this status).

This has taken many years of work and one which we, as a school community, can take immense pride in.

As part of our celebrations yesterday:

  • we had our most successful Walk to School day (congratulations to Kayla from PrepLL  for winning the gift card)
  • our students particpated in a drone photo on the oval to show our five stars  (final photo to be shared soon)
  • we hosted 18 visitors from varous organisations who have supported us with our Sustaiabilty practices (Community Bank - Pinewood, Lions Club- Wheelers Hill, Resourcesmart Victoria, EASL (Eastern Alliance of Sustainability), and Sustainability Victoria.  Our Sustainability leaders took them on a tour of our school highlighting the various sustainable practices we use
  • students and staff dressed in green
  • staff enjoyed a wonderful 'green food' Monring Tea
  • each class recieved a class plant (a beautiful cyclamen) to nurture and look after. Thank you to Bunnings for donatng these
  • we also celebrated by placing the fifth star sticker on the sign at the front of the school
  • enured our weekly Nude Food Day coincided with our Green Day

A massive thank you to our students for working so hard to promote and be aware of the importance of being sustainable, to our parents for supporting our efforts, to the staff for helping to promote our sustainable endeavours.  A big thank you to Mr Stockton for taking the Drone Photo; Miss Liu, Ms Connor and Miss Cuddon for being a big part of the Sustainabiility team and to Mrs Bartleton for leading the team.

A final big thanks to Elliott and Lena (our 2025 Sustainability captains) and their team Chelsea, Cohen, Aaryan, Aiden and Victoria for the incredible work they have done in the first month of school to lead the school.

We are pleased to let our school community know that we have been successful in our grant application for Solar Panels.  These will hopefully be installed in the next few months.
