PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to Week 7

Over the last two weeks I have had the opportunity to do a lot of things with our students. Yesterday I shouted our Year 9 and 10 young women a cupcake to celebrate International Women's Day! I walked the Secondary Cross Country with three great Year 7 lads and enjoyed their conversations.  We hosted two sessions of the Inverell Listening Festival. Our Year 10 students were excellent participants. I was so proud of them. Plus I went to 2M's prayer celebration where the students made my heart sing with their participation and preparation. 

Sadly, an ex-student, Will Murray died in a motorbike accident in late February.  He was only 18. We held a prayer for staff to remember Will. As well, several staff attended his funeral last Monday. It was a celebration of a young man who lived life to the full. Our love and sympathy go out to his mum Deb and his family. May he rest in peace.

Year 11 and 12 Save the date!

Wednesday 26 March is our Community Information Meeting regarding HTS moving to Year 11 in 2026. There will be two sessions

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm both in the hall. This is open to all families and community members to come and find out what Year 11 and 12 will look like at HTS! We are excited about what we can offer our students who wish to complete their final two 

Naplan

Each year the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is sat

by students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students will participate in tests for writing, reading,

conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

NAPLAN 2025 will take place from Wednesday 12 March to Monday 24 March.

Please note the change for our program sent to families last week - Year 7 and 9 Mathematics will now be held on Wednesday 19 March.
