Miss Mel's Message

And a message from Petrina

Term 1, Week 7

The Prep and Junior teams, together with Emma, Keena, and I, headed out on an adventure to tour St Gabriel's and Mary Queen of Heaven with Gemma Goodyear as our Traces of Learning guide, to deepen our understanding of the importance of hands-on learning through the Discovery program. We could see hands-on learning experiences, where children apply their understanding of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and maths in real-life contexts, strengthening their ability to think critically, solve problems, and express ideas. These experiences also showed how to support their faith journey, helping them see how values of kindness, collaboration, and wonder are woven into everyday moments. The skills we took away from this amazing experience will strengthen our Discovery program, developing students' confidence, independence, and a love for exploring new ideas. We acknowledge that the opportunity of Discovery allows children to play, be curious, investigate, and inquire as they make meaningful connections between their learning and the world around them.

A message from Petrina:

I would like to extend my gratitude to the amazing St B’s community for the love and support over the past few weeks while I was in Ireland. My beautiful Mum passed away peacefully on Friday 28th February with myself and my Dad by her side. She battled cancer for two years and she is now at peace. Thank you for all the messages and support towards Tiernan and Cian while I was overseas.

Forever grateful,

Petrina
