What's on in Visual Arts

What a wonderful start to the year we’ve had!
Preps
The Preps have been learning all about the art element ‘line’ and using their knowledge to create drawings of bugs on a colourful background.
1/2s
The Grade 1/2s have been learning about Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. They have started working on their mixed media collages, experimenting with some of Kusama’s ideas. Such as, including microorganisms and cells in their drawings.
3/4s
The Grade 3/4s have been exploring the art movement ‘Surrealism’. Where their aim is to create a ‘hybrid’ animal drawing. We’ve been focusing on the drawing techniques they will need to achieve this; texture, shading and tone. Stay tuned to see some new species come to life.
5/6s
The Grade 5/6s have been diving into the world of portraiture, with a particular focus on Melbourne based artist Daniel Crooks and German artist Alma Haser. They began by taking self portraits using basic photography techniques. Then they cut their photographs into vertical or horizontal sections to create a ‘distorted’ portrait.
Yayoi Kusama at the NGV
Yayoi Kusama’s immersive exhibition is showing at the National Gallery of Victoria from now until 21st of April!!
Lunar New Year art work
