Grade 1 News

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for an exciting Term 3.

What We’re Learning This Term

In Literacy, we are continuing our great learning journey by building on the foundations from the first half of the year. This term, we’re introducing new spelling patterns and focusing on information reports in writing—learning how to present facts clearly and confidently.

In Mathematics, students have been exploring informal measurements, using everyday objects to measure items around the classroom. It’s been a hands-on and engaging way to understand size, length, and comparison.

This term in Religion we’re learning about Parables—the meaningful stories told by Jesus. We’re exploring the lessons these stories teach us and how they can guide our values and actions.

We have a few reminders and updates to help ensure a smooth start:

Please ensure all containers, clothing, and personal items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This helps us return lost items quickly and keeps our classroom organized.

Readers will now be changed on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please remind your child to bring their reading satchel with their readers and Term 3 Reading Diary on these days.

If you have not yet booked your Parent-Teacher Interview, please do so as soon as possible via Simon. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and goals for the term.

Thank you for your continued support.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic term of learning and growth!

Warm regards,

The Year One Team
