Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
It was heartening to have so many kind words and well wishes for Principals’ Day, last Friday. Thank you to the community for these messages, it is lovely to be a part of such a wonderfully supportive community.
Preps 100 Days
Last Friday was also the 100th day of school and learning for our 2025 prep students. The classes had a lot of fun on the day and hopefully made some more lasting memories! Thank you to families for helping with the amazing costumes!
Staff Update
Our warmest wishes for a speedy recovery, go out to Naomi B who a experienced a fall from her bike. Naomi assists many students on an individualised basis across the school and we hope she is back soon.
Public Address System
Earlier this week we were able to upgrade the functionality of our public address system. Primarily this was due to the desire to have different playlists at different times of the day. This will also allow us to tailor items for special occasions, such as Science week, Book week or Reconciliation week.
NAPLAN - Statewide Trends and EEPS
This term the 2025 NAPLAN results have been released. On a macro level Victorian school students performed very well compared to other states. Here is a link to the summary Dr David Howes, the Deputy Secretary, wrote to Principals last week. Out of many strong measures it is exciting to know that mean scores were higher in 17 of the 20 NAPLAN measures, compared to 2024.
From our school perspective our 2025 NAPLAN results show strong growth in Reading and Numeracy from Year 3 to Year 5, with 86% and 76% of students achieving high or medium growth. A particular highlight is that 45% of our Year 5 students achieved in the Exceeding band for Reading, demonstrating very strong achievement in this area. We’re also proud of our Year 3 Writing results, with 92% of students performing at or above the expected level, continuing a positive upward trend over the past three years. One area we will continue to focus on is improving Writing growth from Year 3 to 5, to ensure more students make strong progress and build on the strong foundation established in Year 3.
Parent Helpers and Volunteers
We are extremely fortunate, that for most activities and excursions, we generally receive many offers to help out. We are always very appreciative of this, and this can’t be overstated. Sometimes there are more helpers than we are able to take. When this is the case the classroom teachers do use a range of different criteria to select a helper/s. These selection criteria can be found on Compass, under the ‘pencil’, then ‘school resources’. At EEPS we also regularly review our processes; we have added in Compass Events, a date by which we ask parents to inform us if they are available to help.
School Uniforms
Further updates will be provided later in the term, however, in the meantime please be advised that the current black EEPS rugby style shorts with logos are being heavily discounted at the uniform shop, in preparation of the changes in government policy next year around limiting logos on shorts and pants.
