Dear Parents
Welcome back to Term three and I hope you enjoyed the break with your children. This is an exciting term beginning with Celebrating our grandparents this week, the Year 6 Confirmation Celebration, our biannual whole school Dance performance, many excursions and incursions planned across all year levels, a focus on Chemical and Earth sciences through our Inquiry, National Bullying Week, Feast of the Assumption and Experience Music recitals just to name a few. Please keep an eye on the newsletter for important dates and events.
St Anne and St Joachim – The Grandparents of Jesus
As we celebrate Grandparents Day this week, we remember St Anne and St Joachim, the parents of Mary and the grandparents of Jesus. Though we don’t hear about them in the Bible, tradition tells us they were faithful, loving, and devoted to God.
Their story reminds us how important grandparents are in passing on faith, love, and wisdom through the generations. Just as Anne and Joachim nurtured Mary and helped form her strong faith, our grandparents play a special role in our lives offering support, sharing stories, and showing us what it means to love deeply.
We give thanks for all our grandparents and the special gift they are to our families and community.
We kindly invite you to join us in celebrating Grandparents or Special Older Person Day on Friday, July 25. The morning will begin with a special Mass at 9:15am to honour the significant role these people play in our lives. After Mass, grandparents and special guests are invited to visit their grandchild’s classroom for a shared activity. The celebration will conclude with morning tea in the hall, kindly organised by our Parents and Friends Association. We look forward to sharing this joyful occasion with our school community.
This week, our Foundation to Year 2 students will take part in the Safety in Schools program, delivered by the Protective Services Unit from Brunswick Police. Officers will visit our classrooms to speak with the children about staying safe, recognising trusted adults, and how to seek help when needed. This is a valuable opportunity to support our students' understanding of personal safety in a friendly and age-appropriate way.
Each year, all non-government schools are required to participate in Census Day, which collects information about student enrolments to help determine government funding. This data is provided to the Australian Government and is used for statistical and reporting purposes only. Please note that a Privacy Collection Notice is available, outlining how your child’s information is collected, used, and protected in accordance with privacy laws. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school office.

Over the holidays, we have completed many repairs around the school. We topped up the two playground areas with fresh mulch. In addition, we had all the loose boards repaired on all the wooden decking in Saunders, Hawthorn and Benny courts. We are obtaining quotes for further works to paint and refresh the ARTS area above the STEM Space, the drainage and cracks in the hall are being monitored and acted upon by Makesafe Builders approved by MACS.
Schools require ongoing maintenance and it is vital that all School fees are paid to assist with this ongoing cost to ensure we keep the school looking great and safe for all our children.
This week, we look forward to welcoming families for the Year F-2 Learning Conversations. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to celebrate each child’s progress, share insights, and strengthen the partnership between home and school.
This Thursday, all Year 6 students and their parents are invited to attend the Parent/Child Confirmation Workshop as part of the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This workshop is a valuable opportunity for families to come together in faith, learn more about the meaning of Confirmation, and reflect on this important step in your child’s spiritual journey. We look forward to sharing this special time with you. A link will be sent to you all before Thursday's meeting.
We are excited to share that our students have been working hard this term in Performing Arts, with a focus on Dance as part of the curriculum. To celebrate their learning, we will be holding a Dance Concert to showcase their skills and routines developed this term.
There will be two performances of the concert to ensure that all families have the opportunity to enjoy the show. While students will perform in both concerts, we kindly ask that families attend only one performance.
