BOOK WEEK DRESS UP DAY
On Monday 18th of August, we would love all students to come dressed up as their favourite book character OR dressed in something that goes with this year's theme “Book An Adventure”. We highly encourage families to be sustainable (both on the environment and budgets) and reuse/repurpose outfits. There is no cost to come dressed up and we look forward to seeing students and staff dressed up.
Scholastic Book Club Brochures
This week everyone should receive a Scholastic Book Club brochure. If you don’t receive yours there will be spares available from the library or you can just go online to https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/ to view Issue 5, 2025 and place your order.
The orders are due back by Tuesday 5th August. If you try to put through a late order once the school has closed the orders you will be given the option to pay postage and have it sent directly to your home address.
Cash orders are sent to the school. No orders are to go to the library or class teachers – they are to go directly to the office. Please ensure that these orders have name and class on the order form and envelope. If you want orders as gifts just put your name and a phone number on the order form and mark it as a gift. We will contact you when they arrive at school and hold them at the office for you to collect. We do earn valuable points for every purchase made which are used for new library books. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Growing our School. One plant at a time.
As you are aware, for the last few years our Garden Club and the ladies from Interchange Outer East have been working on the Grassland project. This year we were again successful in gaining funds from The Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant to complete the planting.
Last Friday was National Tree Day and we had several very willing members of the Garden Club put in an extra effort, planting 50 more natives.
As announced at last week's assembly the school has registered with the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme. Over the next few months we will be working here at the school on separating out all of the drink containers from our recyclables to cash them in. As part of this you are also able to contribute to the Enviro program at CHPS.
Using the barcode, or the schools partner number C200006393 and the app, you can direct the 10c refund to us here.

Visual Arts News
On Monday, 19 Year 5 students participated in a recycle art incursion with Carolyn Cardinet.
The incursion is a Maroondah council initiative where students not only get to listen to Carolyn’s artistic practice and her passion for helping the environment, but students were able to work with Carolyn to begin creating unique art pieces from a number of found objects.
Students will be meeting up with both myself and Mr Crook every Monday to further develop their recycled sculptures which will then be a part of a display at Realm ArtSpace in Ringwood alongside Carolyn’s own art work. We are so lucky to be a part of this terrific opportunity not to mention that we are the only school taking part in the exhibition in October.
I’m so looking forward to seeing what sculptural ideas the students come up with.

Smile Squad
Smile Squad is coming to Croydon Hills Primary School
Dear families,
The Smile Squad team from EACH are coming to our school from Thursday 7th August 2025.
Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.
This means all students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.
How to access free dental care
We need your consent before we can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.
Sign up to Smile Squad at: https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic
OR use the below QR code:
Please complete and submit the consent form, this will be sent directly to EACH.
Paper copies of the consent form are available. Please contact the school office if you would like to request one.
The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is available in 13 languages.
Smile Squad dental packs
All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.
Your child(ren) will soon receive a free dental pack to bring home. The dental pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, and an oral health brochure.
Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.
Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.
If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.
Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?
No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.
EACH Smile Squad look forward to seeing you soon.
