Preps Celebrate 100 Days of School

Our Prep students celebrated a major milestone yesterday — 100 days of school!

The day was filled with excitement as students took part in a range of fun and engaging learning tasks all centred around the number 100. From counting and creating with 100 objects to dressing up as 100-year-olds, the activities were a joyful way to reflect on how much they've grown as learners since the start of the year.

Our NAPLAN 2025 Achievement

NAPLAN is an annual assessment in Australia for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9. It evaluates their skills in literacy and numeracy, providing valuable data for schools, education authorities, and governments to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement.

Last week, the school and individual students received their 2025 results. Congratulations to our students and staff, our school achieved its best-ever results!

Student achievement is calculated by the number of correct responses a student provides, with each question weighted according to its level of difficulty, reflecting the adaptive nature of the assessment. These raw scores are then scaled and converted into one of four proficiency levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing, or Needs Additional Support (NAS).

Our school has targets related to NAPLAN in our Annual Implementation Plan. They are to :

  • In Year 3 Writing, increase the percentage of students achieving 'Strong + Exceeding' from 89% (2024) to 90% with 17% Exceeding
  • In Year 5 Writing, increase the percentage of students achieving 'Strong + Exceeding' from 90% (2024) to 91% with 18% Exceeding
  • In Year 5 Numeracy, increase the percentage of students achieving 'Strong + Exceeding' from 77% (2024) to 79% with 17% Exceeding.
  • In Year 5 Reading, increase the percentage of students achieving Strong + Exceeding from 86% (2024) to 87% with 30% Exceeding.

As shown below, the school surpassed expectations in both our overall NAPLAN achievement and the AIP targets:

Other notable achievements included:

  • The increase in the school's overall Year 3 NAPLAN Average Scale Score (+9 points).
  • The increase in the school's overall Year 5 NAPLAN Average Scale Score Average (+4 points).
  • The school's exemplary standing against Similar and Similar Network (local) schools in Year 3 Reading and Numeracy.

Guided by this year’s achievement data and aligned with our four-year School Strategic Plan, our next steps will focus on increasing the proportion of students reaching the Exceeding proficiency level, with a particular emphasis in Year 5.
