NAPLAN results have been sent home through the mail and should've been received by now. If you haven't received your results or would like to discuss your results, please contact your relevant Head of Year Level.
Norwood as a whole had some outstanding growth results between Years 7 and 9 in both writing and numeracy. We continue to be well above state for students achieving "strong" and "exceeding" results across all of the tests.
It's been a great start to the term for our current Year 9's as they began the process for 2026 subject selection.
All students in Year 9 had a meeting period 5 on Monday where Mr Given passed on all the relevant information. Parents should be seeing a yellow form that needs to be filled in with subjects for next year. Students should bring this form to Course Confirmation on Wednesday 13 August where they will get to meet with one of our leadership team to discuss their pathways.
Congratulations to the students who were invited to complete early access to VCE - this process was by invitation only based on a number of data sets that include GPA, NAPLAN, Attendance and Student Reports as well as teacher recommendations. This ensures we set the students up for success.
Thank you to the parents who joined us on senior school information evening, and if you have any feedback feel free to get in contact.

Please ensure that all of your medical and dietaries documentation has been submitted for the camp. Mr Cole and the team have an action-packed camp planned. I can't wait to get up on the Tuesday to run the Monster Course with the students. Ensure you bring shoes and clothes that you are happy to get muddy!
We have two upcoming excursions (outside of sport) for the Year 7's this term. There is a Geography excursion (dates vary for groups, please see Compass) where students will complete a feasibility study comparing Toorak to Warrandyte. We also have a Healesville Sanctuary excursion planned to fit in with the biology unit students are currently studying. This is locked in for Tuesday 16 September.
If you are interested in being a parent helper on the excursion and have a working with children's check, feel free to reach out to your child's Science teacher as we may require some extra support.
I have put a local excursion permission up for all Year 9 students on Compass, if parents could please give permission on this it means we won't need to chase any extra permission when taking students to the local nursing homes in Term 3 and 4. As stated in the email, if your child is attending Chirnside Views there will be a separate permission as we will need to travel by bus.

Thursday 11 September will be RUOK day at Norwood - It's a wonderful carnival atmosphere with food trucks, petting zoo, face painting and this year I've heard there is a secret activity which is going to be a lot of fun!
