Awards Assembly

It is such a rewarding part of the job and a privilege to present awards to deserving students. Students who received awards yesterday were recognised for their efforts in Semester 1. Some students received Leadership Awards for their service to the College, whilst others received Excellence or Endeavour Awards, as nominated by their teachers for achieving excellent results and always trying their best. Congratulations to all award winners. 

At the Awards Assembly, we had a wonderful vocal performance from the cast of Oliver. This performance was full of vibrancy and indicates that we are in for a high quality show. If you haven't already purchased your tickets, please do so quickly as it is likely that they will sell out. We are very fortunate to have the very talented Lucy Filor as Director and Melissa Cherry as Producer. This year, I am in awe of Hayley Tonkin from Year 11 who is leading the entire choreography. What an amazing talent she has. 

So many camps....

We are very fortunate at Norwood for the generosity of our teachers who volunteer their time to ensure a fun-filled, action-packed camps program. The 12 day Central Australia Trip was a great success. Our music students, across all year levels, have just returned from a 3-day Music Camp, full of intensive rehearsals and engaging activities. A group of lucky Year 10 students are currently skiing or snowboarding at Mt Buller and in two week's time our Year 8 students will be off to The Summit Camp in Trafalgar. I remain grateful to the teachers for their commitment to these programs.

Stage 2 Masterplan submission

Whilst we appreciate the completion of Stage 1 of our College Masterplan, we are currently making submissions to progress to Stage 2. It is a complex process obtaining funding for new buildings, however, I would like the community to know that we are well underway in presenting a strong case to move to Stage 2. If we are successful, this would mean a rebuild of the Arts/Technology building as a double story and an extension of the Stem building to include more Science classrooms. I will update this space if/when I receive updates.
