2025 NAPLAN Results – Years 3 & 5

This year’s NAPLAN results provide a valuable snapshot of student learning across the school and help us identify both strengths and areas for improvement.

Year 3

Our Year 3 results show improvement in Reading and steady growth in Spelling, supported by our structured literacy approach. Grammar and Punctuation also show an overall upward trend. In these areas, our results are above those of similar schools and in line with, or exceeding, network averages. Writing and Numeracy remain areas for further focus, and we will continue to strengthen these through explicit teaching and targeted support.

Year 5

Our Year 5 results indicate strong growth in Reading compared to previous years, with outcomes above both network and similar school averages. Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation remain steady, with results similar to or better than comparable schools. Writing continues to be a national challenge, and our results reflect this trend, while Numeracy shows mixed results, reinforcing the need for consistent, high-quality instruction in mathematical reasoning and problem solving.

Across both year levels, these results confirm the positive impact of our evidence-based teaching programs and also highlight clear priorities for our next stage of improvement. We thank our teachers for their dedication and our students for their hard work and effort.

Staffing Update

We are pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to our Education Support team.

Welcome Michelle Middleton

Shelly comes to us having worked in a number of different roles. She has been a primary school teacher, has run an equestrian centre for over 20 years alongside a floral design business, as well as working as an outdoor education coach.

Welcome, Katey Shore

My name is Katey, and I’m a proud mum to two beautiful daughters. I grew up in Trafalgar and am excited to return in my new role as Education Support at Trafalgar Primary School. I love spending time outdoors, especially camping and relaxing at the beach.

Welcome, Emilee Dunn

Hi, my name is Emilee. Working in a school has been something I’ve always dreamed of. When I’m not working, you will find me playing netball or spending time with my dog, Buddy. I’m keen to start this new chapter at Trafalgar Primary School.

Farewell, Adam Cinemere

We also say farewell to Adam Cinemere, who has been working as an Education Support staff member in Year 1 after completing his teaching rounds here as a student teacher. Adam has reluctantly decided to step away from the role to balance his study commitments. We thank Adam for his contributions to our school and wish him all the very best in his future teaching career.
