Trafalgar Primary Shines at NFL Flag Victorian State Championships
Our Trafalgar Primary School team recently competed with great enthusiasm and determination at the NFL Flag Victorian State Championships. Throughout the day, our players demonstrated impressive skill, teamwork, and resilience, scoring numerous touchdowns against some of the strongest teams in the state.
Beyond the scoreboard, what stood out most was the fun and enjoyment shared by every student representing our school. They supported one another on and off the field, showing respect to opponents and officials alike, truly embodying the spirit of fair play.
This experience provided invaluable opportunities for our students to develop their confidence, communication, and athletic abilities while enjoying the fast-paced, fun nature of NFL Flag football. We are incredibly proud of all our players for their dedication and the positive manner in which they represented Trafalgar Primary School.
Congratulations to the entire team, and a heartfelt thank you to the families and supporters who helped make this journey possible!
Junior Swimming Program Making Waves!
Our Foundation to Grade 2 students have been having a fantastic time during the Junior Swimming Program held at Latrobe Leisure Moe Newborough Indoor Pool. With just one lesson left on Friday, 22 August, it’s been wonderful to see our youngest learners gaining confidence and improving their swimming skills — all while having lots of fun!
The pool has been filled with laughter, big smiles, and plenty of splashy moments as the children enjoy their lessons and develop their abilities in the water.
A big thank you to all the families for their support and to the instructors for creating such a positive learning environment. We’re excited to see what the final session brings and look forward to watching our junior swimmers continue to make waves!
In Term 3, Grades 3-6 students are spending the first half of theterm working in bands on Jamhubs using teamwork and instrument techniques to rehearse and perform a song. Grades F-2 are looking at Folk and World music - singing, dancing and playing instruments to songs from around the world. Our attention will turn to Festival on the lawn before the term ends.
Instrumental Music
The TPS Instrumental Music Program offers students an extra-curricular experience where students have the fantastic opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument of their choice guided by an expert/professional on their instrument/s.
If you would like to sign up for the Instrumental music program, all our 4 teachers have vacancies. Simply pick up a form from outside the music room or the front office and return it so wee can assign you with an instrumental teacher and get started with one on one music lessons.
For more information about the TPS Instrumental program take this link - Instrumental music page - TPS music website.
Song of the year
Only 3 weeks of voting to go. We are up to the semifinals.
In Terms 2 and 3, all music classes are starting each lesson by listening and interacting with 2 songs and then voting for one of the songs. We start with 16 songs. The teachers and school staff also get a vote. The songs are the school’s bell music and songs are removed from the bell music when they lose.
We will eliminate songs until a winner is chosen. The theme for this year’s vote is Music styles.
Here is the chart that will update each week - 2025 Best Song - Music genres

Each year, the Lions Club run a speaking contest that students in grades 3-6 at Trafalgar Primary participate in. Students are given a topic to write to. The topic for the Year 3 and 4 students was "Creative Invention", where they imagined something they could invent. They explained what it would be made from, what it could do, how it could be used, and who might use it. The Year 5 and 6 students explored the topic "Technology", learning about how fast technology is changing and how it can affect people and the environment.
On Thursday the 7th Of August, students from grades 3-6 presented their speeches in front of their unit and judges, and were judged on aspects of students use of eye contact, their voice and their expression, ability to engage the audience, the research into their topic and more.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Lions Club Speaking Contest, and a further congratulations to our Grade 3/4 winner Darcy Rankin, and our Grade 5/6 winner Imogen Radic. These two will move onto the next level of the Lions Club Speaking Contest, which will be happening on Wednesday the 20th Of August. Good luck girls.

Hello, my name is Leila. At the start of the year an amazing opportunity came up for myself and all year sixes to participate in. It is called The Rotary Junior Community Award. Rotary is an amazing program for all year six students to participate in. You can learn a lot of new things and skills.
I have been doing Rotary for a few weeks now and it has been so fun along the way. You have a diary to fill out which has certain categories, some of which include: community service, physical recreation, social experiences and skills.
As well as filling out the diary, you write reports on some of the experiences you have done or make a poster if required.
You then get to put all your reports together to make a presentation which is presented at the local bowls club to people from the Rotary Club.
Overall, I definitely recommend having a go at Rotary as it is such an amazing experience to have, especially to look back on and see the achievements and skills you have gained. I am so excited to listen to everyone's perspective on their journey of Rotary.

It has been wonderful to welcome students and families back to Breakfast Club this term! We have had so many students visit us in the mornings for delicious toasties, cereals and hot milos to help kick start their learning day. We are so thankful for the many generous food donations provided by the community and from our sponsors - Foodbank, IGA Trafalgar, Bakers Delight Mid Valley and Gracie’s Bakery.
Due to these donations, Breakfast Club continues to be able to support families through the provision of Care Packages. We remind families that our Traf Pantry can be found in the Gym Foyer and continues to be stocked with many excellent products, available to anyone - and they’re free! If you would like to receive a Care Package or know of a family who may benefit, feel free to drop into our School Office, or see Mrs Marslen.
Donations of Jam and Milo needed, please!
Thank you again to all families who have generously donated tins of Milo to our Breakfast Club. Any extra donations of Milo, as well as jam would be greatly appreciated to support our school community!
Looking forward to seeing you for brekky!
