The Grade 1 students have settled back into the routine of school quickly and impressively. It was wonderful to see all of their beaming faces as they walked back into school ready and excited to learn for Term 3. We have already had a busy start to the term and cannot wait for our excursion to CERES on Monday next week! We hope you all enjoyed your holidays and feel well rested coming into the second half of the year!
NAIDOC Week
Students reflected on NAIDOC Week that occurred over the Winter Holidays, we explored a variety of stories and activities honouring and celebrating our exciting Indigenous culture. The discussions we shared around themes of diversity and inclusion have really warmed our hearts. It's beautiful to witness how compassionate and knowledgeable our little learners are. This year’s NAIDOC theme prompted all the students to think about themselves as part of the next generation. Talking about plans for the future truly ignited a lot of inspiring responses.
Making Chocolate Balls
Our Year 1 students had an exciting time learning about the importance of following instructions while making delicious chocolate balls. As part of their lesson on procedural texts, the children transformed into enthusiastic human food processors—crushing biscuits with gusto, mixing ingredients, and rolling the sticky mixture into tasty treats. Covered in crumbs and chocolate, they discovered how crucial it was to follow each step carefully to get the recipe just right. The experience wasn’t just messy and fun; it was a hands-on way to understand how instructions help things run smoothly.
Show and Tell - ‘What’s in the Box?’ (Starting Week 3)
This term for Show and Tell we will be asking students to place a mystery object inside a small box (provided). They must write three descriptive and interesting clues for the class so that they can guess what the mystery object is. The schedule will be the same as last term’s class pets and we will start at some stage next week.

Willy Kids/Respectful Relationships: Our Willy Kids focus is “Willy Kids are Brave". We will be discussing and learning to understand what it means to be brave and what bravery might look like for different people. Our focus for Respectful Relationships this term is “Positive Gender Relationships”. Over the term students will reflect on their identity including their likes, dislikes and strengths. They will develop an awareness of positive and negative social behaviours and develop an appreciation of difference.
