Winter Wonderland Disco - Friday 1st August

Year 3 MCG Museum- Thurs 7th August
As part of our Geography Unit of Inquiry on Australia and its landmarks, , in Term 3 our Year 3 students will have the exciting opportunity to visit one of Melbourne’s most iconic sites, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). During the excursion, students will explore the Australian Sports Museum, where they can enjoy both self-guided learning and interactive experiences. They will also take part in a 60-minute guided tour of the MCG, led by a knowledgeable MCG volunteer. This is a fantastic chance for students to deepen their understanding of Australian culture, sport, and history in a real-world context.
Year 2 Briars Day Camp- Tues 19th August
On Tuesday 19th August, 2025 our Year 2 students have the exciting opportunity to attend a day camp experience at the Briars. Students will participate in a range of group activities that will both challenge them individually and encourage them to work together as a team. It is a great experience for the students and prepares them for camps in future years at school. |
Year 4-6 Athletics Day - Wed 20th August
Somerville Primary School will hold our 2025 House Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 20th August 2025. Students in Years 4 to 6 will travel to Ballam Park Athletics Track and enjoy a full day of competing in athletics events. Parents are welcome to spectate at the venue. |
Year 3-6 Cyber Safety Incursion - Tues 26th August
On Tuesday August 26, 2025 our Year 3 to 6 students will participate in a face to face incursion "Cyber Safety Project". These sessions are invaluable for our students to learn how to manage and engage in the digital world. The sessions are being run by experienced educators and will run as different sessions targeted according to age and year level as below:
Year 3 and 4 – Digital Wellbeing Session - Separate Sessions for each year level.
Year 3 and 4 students will explore ways to self-manage their screen time. Tune in to what is drawing them back to technology
- Identify techniques app and game developers use to capture and sustain their attention
- Know how to activate settings in their online profiles to help them take control of their technology use
- Recognises the important differences between banter and bullying
- Know the steps they can take to seek help and manage difficult situations online
Year 5 and 6 - Cyber Safety Session - Separate Sessions for each year level.
Year 5 and 6 students will be empowered to establish skills to self-manage their digital lives.
- Define cyberbullying and consider their role in being an online upstander versus a bystander
- Explore ways to protect their privacy and personal data
- Consider their responsibilities as online citizens and the law
- Uncover how easy it can be to overshare online
Discuss how and where they can seek help and report online abuse
Prep Funky Farm Excursion - Wed 27th August
On Wednesday 27th August Prep students will be visiting the Funky Farm as part of their Term 3 study of ‘Creatures Great and Small’. They will be learning about animal features, their needs and habitats. Students will attend an interactive, hands-on session to look at and touch the animals. They will also be attending the Hastings foreshore to look at the mangrove/wetland habitat before returning to school |
