At SJV we have a number of student based lunchtime clubs that are supported by our SJV staff  to continue to support students create new friendships. Lunchtime Clubs will begin in Week 3. Lunchtime clubs are vital for fostering student wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement by providing structured, interest-based activities that build social skills, reduce bullying, improve focus, and boost academic performance, creating a more positive school climate for all learners, especially those who struggle socially.

Settling into primary school requires building familiar routines, fostering independence, and maintaining a positive attitude. Key strategies can include practicing the school commute, arranging playdates with future classmates, encouraging self-care (dressing, packing bags) and ensuring early, restful nights.

Tips for families:

Prepare, prepare, prepare and mindfully avoid rushing

Try to remain calm

Early nights all around

Use positive talk and interact with other families
