From the Principals Desk
December 2025
As we come to the close of another big year at Northern Bay College, there is so much to celebrate across our five campuses. 2025 has been a year of energy, growth and connection, with our students embracing opportunities both in and beyond the classroom.
Throughout the year we enjoyed vibrant concerts, showcases and graduations that brought our community together and highlighted the pride our students take in their learning. Camps, leadership programs, House activities and cross-campus experiences strengthened relationships and built a strong sense of belonging for students of all ages.
In learning spaces, consistent approaches to literacy and numeracy, strong senior pathways, and a continued focus on wellbeing and inclusion supported students to grow in confidence and capability. Our families and community partners have also played an important role, walking alongside us and enriching school life.
As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with optimism and clarity, building on this momentum with a strong focus on reading, high-quality teaching practice and student voice and engagement.
Thank you to all staff for your professionalism, care and commitment this year. We wish you a safe, restful and happy holiday break and look forward to another exciting year together in 2026.

Congratulations Year 12 Students

We are incredibly proud of our Year 12 students, who received their VCE subject and ATAR results this week. Once again, they have exceeded expectations. As our largest-ever Year 12 cohort, achieving an overall subject mean just shy of 25, an English Median of 25 for the first time in NBC History and English Mean again close to 26 along with 100% of our VM and VPC students successfully in their Year 12 completion is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects our consistent, year-on-year delivery of strong VCE outcomes. We pay special congratulations to our 2025 NBC Dux - Jonathan Tanner congratulating him on an outstanding ATAR - 91.2 which was achieved through some incredibly dedicated, hard work. These results reflect the hard work and commitment of students and staff across our five campuses, and a shared determination to continually raise the bar for student achievement. Importantly, this success is achieved in ways that are responsive to individual needs and celebrate growth, within a respectful and caring environment grounded in collaboration and kindness. Congratulations to the Class of 2025 - we are very proud of you. Thank you to all Northern Bay College staff for your tireless support of our students’ aspirations.
College Band Performance
The School Band delivered a brilliant performance on Wednesday at the Goldsworthy Theatre, showcasing the talent and dedication of 55 students from Years 5–10 across all five campuses. Their poise, confidence and beautiful musicianship created a truly memorable recital for our enthusiastic Grade 3–4 audience. Our young listeners were outstanding supporters, and we hope many were inspired to pick up an instrument themselves. Congratulations to all band members and staff involved—what a wonderful celebration of music at NBC!

Year 8 Graduation
The Year 8 Graduation, held on Wednesday night at the Croatian Centre, was a truly special celebration of our students’ journey from Prep to Year 8. A huge thank you to Jana and Kate for their expert planning and to our Learning Community Leaders and Year 7–8 staff teams for their unwavering support of these outstanding young people. Our student leaders delivered thoughtful, heartfelt speeches, reflecting on growth, friendship, and the kindness that has shaped their time at NBC. They spoke with gratitude for the experiences and people who helpedthem along the way, and with aspiration for the exciting path ahead. It was a wonderful evening where all four campuses came together to honour a remarkable cohort. Congratulations to all on a memorable celebration.

Multicultural Communities Forum

It was a morning of pride, collaboration and positivity at the celebration event that heralded the end of the 2025 Multicultural Communities forums. With students and families from all 5 Campuses and Ella George sharing some lovely words of support and encouragement - it was a lovely moment to reflect on the incredible cultural pride on display and the wonderful community leadership being demonstrated by very recent graduates of NBC. In an education paradigm so focussed on putting everything in neat boxes - these under the radar capacities of civicism and cultural understanding are still so vital to the growth of young people. Congratulations to the organizing team for this very special event.
North Shore Community Skate Park

Following two terms of dedicated work by our Tallis Campus students, the redesign of the skateboard sign at North Shore Skatepark has now been completed. This project was driven by a desire to involve students in a meaningful community initiative - one they could contribute to and take genuine pride in. The work began around 12 months ago in collaboration with the City of Greater Geelong, and included gaining design approval and working with relevant stakeholders to bring the project to fruition. Students showed outstanding commitment, contributing time during recess and lunchtimes to see the project through. The official unveiling, in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong, is planned for early 2026.
Wexford Campus Showcase

A big congratulations to Colette and the Wexford staff team who rounded off the Campus Showcases this week. These events have been so significant in developing those all important community connections. The joy on students’ faces was priceless - making the event all the more worthwhile.
Year 8 Step-Up Program
Year 8 students truly stepped up into their Year 9 program, showing impressive confidence, enthusiasm and a mature approach to their learning. Their support for one another was a testament to the work of every staff member involved in this year’s transition - across the Year 7 - 8 and Year 9 teams, as well as the Stepping Stones Program for students needing an extra layer of support. This smooth and successful transition reflects a genuine whole-college effort and is a wonderful example of what a five-campus model can achieve. Experiences like this matter; they build readiness, connection and belief in what students can achieve next. Thank you to all staff, including those managing timetabling and logistics, for making it possible.

Feed me Geelong
Throughout Semester two, as a part of the Wellbeing proactive intervention programs, 2 groups of male students from Wexford have been participating in ‘Reel It In’. Students have engaged in many activities over the last 6 months including fishing, walking through the You Yangs and volunteering for their local community. Students have been working on building their resilience, learning mindfulness, connecting with country as well as beginning to understand a sense of self.More recently, students have learnt about food insecurity whilst volunteering with Feed Me Geelong. This has been an important opportunity to understand how community works and how to ‘give back’. Feed Me rescue 50,000 kgs of food from landfill every month and distribute over 7000 meals every week. The students were very proud to be a part of the process. We look forward to continuing this program in 2026.

Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our School Captain, Ali Agha Wali Zada, who was formally added to Victoria’s Multicultural Honour Roll at Government House this week. This recognition reflects Ali’s extraordinary commitment to raising awareness about issues facing his community. Earlier this year, he visited Federal Parliament, where he secured bipartisan support in advocating for the needs and history of the Hazara people—an achievement well beyond his years and a testament to his courage, clarity and leadership. Ali is a powerful example of how fortunate we are at Northern Bay College to work alongside young people who inspire us daily and embody a genuine ethos of service. His achievements, like those of many NBC students, remind us that the work of every staff member truly makes an impact. Congratulations, Ali, and thank you to his supporters who nominated him for this remarkable honour.
Year 12 Graduation Dinner

Our Year 12 graduates celebrated the end of their formal schooling in style, gathering with families and staff for a truly memorable graduation dinner. The evening held a wonderful sense of occasion - elegant, warm, and full of pride. Staff delivered heartfelt speeches to the graduating class, and our College Captains spoke with remarkable maturity, reflecting on their 13-year journey at NBC with deep collaboration, kindness, and a genuine sense of identity. A huge thank you to our Senior School team for crafting an evening students will cherish, and to the Shell Club for providing such a stunning and welcoming venue.
