3-4 Class

(Miss Sayhoune)

Wow, what an amazing start to the year the 3/4s have had! We have quickly settled into a steady daily routine, and it has been wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic the children are about their learning.

In Literacy, we have begun reading Matilda, focusing on visualisation, prediction, and making connections to themselves, other texts, and the world. These skills support deeper comprehension and enjoyment of reading. Students are also building reading fluency by practising daily one-minute partner reads.

In Writing, students are creating an informational text about themselves, learning to structure paragraphs like a “hamburger” with a clear topic sentence, supporting details, and a conclusion.

In Mathematics, we are building confidence and addressing negative mindsets while strengthening number skills, particularly place value up to six digits.

In Social and Emotional Learning, we are developing strategies to manage emotions and embrace a growth mindset. We look forward to beginning Earth Science very soon!

Reminders for parents:

*10 minutes of reading Monday-Thursday- mark in the reading diary

*1 minute reading fluency and write results on the sheet

*Reading diaries brought in Fridays

*Drink bottles filled with water daily
