Year 8 News

Students have made a positive and confident start to Term 1. It has been wonderful to see Year 8 students settling into routines, building new friendships and embracing the opportunities that secondary school provides.

A highlight of the term so far was Swim Sports last Friday. It was fantastic to see so many students involved, whether competing in swimming events, participating in novelty races, or cheering on their peers in house colours. The strong sense of house spirit and encouragement on the day was a credit to the cohort.

Important Reminders for Students and Families

Locker Security

  • All students are required to have a padlock on their locker.

  • We encourage families to provide a spare key to the Year 8 Office to minimise disruption if keys are misplaced or forgotten.

SunSmart Expectations

  • Hats are compulsory during Terms 1 and 4.

  • Students without a hat will be required to remain in the covered basketball courts adjacent to S Wing during breaks.

  • Hats are available for purchase from the Administration Office for $20.

Organisation and Learning Habits

Students are reminded to:

  • Bring a fully charged laptop to school each day.

  • Have the required books and materials for each class.

Developing strong organisational habits early in the year helps students establish positive learning routines and sets them up for ongoing success.

Reporting Absences

Parents and guardians are reminded to notify the school if their child will be absent via:

  • The Absence Hotline: 5381 7200

  • The SEQTA App
