What a fantastic way to kick off the year!
Our students have enthusiastically returned to school, eager to learn, which is truly exciting.
We've begun this year with some changes, including new classroom teachers, adjusted class schedules, and even a fresh curriculum for some. Change can sometimes bring stress, so please prioritise self-care and reach out if you or your family need support.
Uniform Reminder
Now that we're in week 4, we kindly ask parents to ensure that all McKenzie Creek students are in full school uniform. If there are any concerns about purchasing uniforms, please don't hesitate to contact Treena Hogan, our student wellbeing worker, for assistance. Otherwise, feel free to speak with either Ebony or Darcy.
Absences
We understand that occasional absences due to appointments, illness, or other reasons may occur. We kindly request that you notify your program coordinator to ensure that we can follow up on absences and ensure everything is alright.
NAPLAN
As we progress through the term, NAPLAN assessments for year 7 and 9 students are approaching. This presents an opportunity for your child to challenge themselves and evaluate their learning progress. If you'd like more information or wish to discuss this further, please reach out to Dan Garner at 0473 238 253.
Lastly, a big thank you to our families for their efforts in ensuring their children attend school. If there's anything we can do to assist you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We’ve kicked off the year very well and have settled into the classroom environment. Students have been getting into a good routine of completing daily word challenges, regulation-work as well as literacy & numeracy tasks.
Within the next week, Blue Group students will begin their community engagement work with the Centre for Participation. Each Tuesday they will be participating in excursions and industry tours to assist them in becoming ‘job-ready’. ‘Meals on Wheels’ will return in week 5, with students delivering cooked meals to clients each Thursday morning.
PAT Testing
Progressive Achievement Testing (PAT) is scheduled for weeks 4 & 5 with students in Years 7 to 10 expected to complete both their math & reading tests. The testing is important for teachers to be able to meet their students at their level and achieve 12 months of growth across the year in their literacy and numeracy skills.

Our McKenzie Creek students have had a wonderful start to the year, busily forming new friendships, settling into routines and embracing new subjects with enthusiasm. When asked about their highlights so far, students shared the following responses:
Systems, PE and Cooking are my favourite subjects because they are fun and I get to build stuff.
I like working in class with my friend.
PE because I like playing dodgeball.
Making new friends and meeting new teachers.
Making covers for all my books.
Seeing all my friends again after the holidays and hanging out.
