From School Leadership

Welcome to the 2026 School Year!

It is with great joy and excitement that I welcome you all back to St Leonard’s for the commencement of the 2026 academic year. I hope that the Christmas break provided a wonderful opportunity for you to rest, reconnect with loved ones, and celebrate the festive season.

There is a unique energy in a school during the first week. The corridors are buzzing with stories of summer holidays, the fresh smell of new stationery, and the sound of friends reuniting. As we gather again as a faith community, we look forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, and spiritual growth.

We are delighted to extend a special welcome to the families joining the St Leonard’s community for the first time this year. Whether you have moved from another area or are just beginning your school journey, we are blessed to have you with us.

To our 2026 Preps: A very special welcome goes out to our newest and youngest students! Starting Primary School is a significant milestone, not just for the children, but for the parents and guardians as well. We have loved seeing their bright smiles and shiny shoes in the playground this week. Please know that our staff is dedicated to ensuring they feel safe, loved, and happy as they settle into their new routines. You are now part of our family!

As our Preps begin their journey, another group is entering the final chapter of their primary education. We wish to acknowledge and congratulate our Year 6 students, who step up this year as the leaders of our school.

Being in Year 6 at a Catholic school is about more than just wearing the bomber jacket; it is about Servant Leadership. We look to our Year 6s to:

  • Be compassionate role models for the younger students.
  • Demonstrate our school values in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Support our Preps through the "Buddy Program," helping them navigate the playground and build confidence.

We have great faith in this cohort. We know they will lead with kindness, integrity, and spirit. To the Year 6 families: thank you for supporting them as they take on these new responsibilities.

Communication moving forward

We understand there has been some confusion about how parents can communicate with teachers now that we have changed platforms.

All communication from the school will come through nForma - please make sure all details are up to date on the Portal. If you need to contact your classroom teacher for non-emergency reasons please email them directly (email addresses listed below). If you need to get a message to a teacher or your child more urgently please contact the office.

Please be aware that Seesaw and Operoo are no longer operational and teachers are not able to check messages sent through on Seesaw.
