Every Learning Footprint Matters
This year, our learning journey is guided by oure theme of Every Footprint Matters. Inspired by the book Footprint by Phil Cummings, we are exploring the impact we have on our world and each other. The story beautifully illustrates how the smallest steps can lead to significant change. Throughout the year, we will be framing our learning and our community life around three key pillars:
- Our Footprints: Acknowledging the unique mark each child brings to our school. We celebrate the individual strengths, cultures, and stories that make St Joseph’s such a vibrant place to learn.
- Our Choices: Empowering our students to be conscious learners. Every choice is a footprint that defines who we are. Whether we are persevering through a difficult task, showing kindness on the playground, or caring for our local Crib Point environment.
- Our Future: Looking ahead with hope and responsibility. We are teaching our students that the footprints they leave today are the paths they build for tomorrow.
Our Focus for Term 1
As we find our stride this week, we are placing a strong emphasis on Learning Readiness. You might notice your children coming home talking about:
- Establishing Routines: Building consistent habits that allow every student to feel safe and focused.
- The Learning Climb: Encouraging students to embrace challenges. We want them to know that feeling stuck or challenged is just a sign that they are about to make a new "footprint" in their understanding.
- Goal Setting: Students are identifying the specific paths they want to take in their literacy, numeracy, and personal growth this term.
A Partnership in Learning
We believe that the best learning happens when the school and home are working in partnership. As we settle into the term, I encourage you to chat with your children about their day using the language of our theme:
- "What was a choice you made today that you are proud of?"
- "How did your footprints help someone else in your class today?"
Small conversations like these reinforce the idea that learning is a lifelong adventure.
