Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear KPS Community
We have had a smooth and positive start to the 2026 school year! It’s been fantastic to see the children settling so quickly into their new classrooms, diving into their learning, and building great connections with their new teachers and classmates.
We were also delighted to welcome our new Foundation students yesterday. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they arrived for their very first day of school, beginning what will be a very special learning journey with us. We look forward to watching them grow, learn, and thrive as part of our school community.
Our first assembly for the year will be on Monday, 9 February at 9:10 am. This will be an exciting milestone as our new school captains take the lead in preparing and running their very first assembly!
As always, families and community members are warmly invited to come along and be part of the fun. We’ll also be presenting our first set of classroom awards for the year, celebrating students who are already displaying our six school values and learning dispositions in action.
We’re so proud of how well the year has begun and are looking forward to all the learning, growth, and special events that make our school such a wonderful place to be. Here’s to a great year ahead!
Welcoming Our 2026 School Captains
We are delighted to introduce our six School Captains for 2026. These students have been selected by their peers and teachers for the way they consistently demonstrate our school values in their everyday actions. They are positive role models who lead by example and show what it means to be part of our school community.
Each captain proudly represents one of our core values:
- Respect – showing kindness, fairness and consideration for others (Kayla Rowler)
- Care – looking out for people, our school and our environment (Abbie McPhee)
- Excellence – always striving to do their best and encouraging others to do the same (Alice Williams)
- Pride – taking ownership of their learning, behaviour and school (Lila Needham)
- Persistence – showing determination, resilience and a “have-a-go” attitude (Chenula Perera)
- Responsibility – being reliable, trustworthy and ready to lead (Jack Price)
Throughout the year, our School Captains will support school events, represent our school with pride, and work closely with staff and students to help make our school a welcoming, inclusive and positive place for everyone.
We congratulate our new School Captains and look forward to seeing them grow as leaders and ambassadors for our school in the year ahead.
Kind Regards,
Alistair Rayner
