Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

The Little Things
As we journey through life we realise more and more that so many little things make a difference. In a close sporting competition one little decision or a skill error can cost a game. Likewise a good decision or the learning and execution of a skill that is required in a close contest can make all the difference.
In our journey at school little things can make a big difference. Taking a few moments to prepare for class, making sure you are on time for class, reading over a questions once it is finished, writing out questions to ask the teacher the next day when not sure with homework, getting to class on time, having all the equipment for class etc etc. These all can have a significant impact on student learning.
As we continue to work together for your children entrusted to our care, we encourage Parents, Guardians and Carers to be having conversations regularly with your child about study, learning, approach to school and getting into good habits with the little things.
These little habits can make a big difference. As a school with a goal to improve the learning for all, these little things are a great place for us to start making some clear growth and improvement.
Child Safety
As a school community we are continuing to reflect on the Child Safe Standards. Our Standard for the month ahead is number 5.
STANDARD 5: ‘’Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.’’
Please find attached a newsletter from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools that covers important information on this Standard. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any matters in relation to Child Safety, please do not hesitate to contact the Child Safety Team at the College.
Here is the link for the newsletter for Standard 5:
Phones and Airpods
There is a lot of research that tells us about the negative impact of phones on student learning. As a result, we have the clear policy of no phones during the school day at school. We also have the same policy with AirPods. It seems some students have starting to wear AirPods during class. We ask Parents, Guardians and Carers to work with us and remind students to keep these items at home or in your locker (locked) if at school for the best learning outcomes, as well as for the safe keeping of the items.
Pentecost
In the liturgical year we have celebrated Pentecost and now move to ordinary time with the knowledge that we have the Holy Spirit with us. It is similar in our school year, it is the ordinary time of the year as we move to the middle of the term. However we have the great assurance of the presence of the Holy Spirit, always with us and ready to come when we call. As we move through the term, may we all call on the Holy Spirit frequently, be open to being lead and guided by the promptings of the Holy Spirit and attune to the Holy Spirit.
With the Church we pray Come Holy Spirit!
