Classroom Reports

Foundation

Our budding meteorologists have been busy writing and presenting their own weather reports! These reports were delivered through the Channel Wedderburn News Station, where the children thoroughly enjoyed using the real microphone and speakers to present their weather forecasts to their classmates. It was wonderful to see their confidence and communication skills grow as they took on the role of weather reporters.

Our "Weather in My World" inquiry unit will conclude this week. To celebrate their learning, students will create a representation of a type of weather and what you can do in those weather conditions, using a range of creative materials.

Reminders

  • Please continue to record the books and/or word cards your child reads each night in their reading diary.
  • Regular reading practice helps build confidence, fluency, and vocabulary.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Year 11

With only three weeks to go until the end of term, there is still plenty to achieve before we head into the holidays.

Next week is a significant one for our Year 11 students, with End of Unit Exams taking place, while students completing a Unit 3 & 4 subject will also sit the GAT. These assessments provide an important opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills developed throughout the semester.

As exams approach, remember that success isn't about being perfect — it's about being prepared and giving your best effort. As the saying goes:

"Success is where preparation and opportunity meet."

The work you put in now will help build confidence and ensure you walk into each exam knowing you've given yourself the best chance to succeed.

Good luck to all students over the coming weeks. Stay organised, ask for help when you need it, and keep supporting one another as we head towards the finish line.

Mr G's Study Tip — Exam Day Matters

The preparation doesn't stop when you walk into the exam room.

  • Read every question carefully before answering. Remember you can underline or highlight key terms or information in the question.
  • Look at the marks allocated — a 1-mark question needs a different response to a 5-mark question.
  • If you get stuck, move on and come back later.
  • Leave a few minutes at the end to check your answers.

Remember, exams are not about catching you out — they're an opportunity to show what you know.

"Do your best until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."

Year 12

Our Year 12 students continue to impress with the way they are balancing their studies, school commitments, and future pathways as they move through what is always a busy and important year.

Students have been working hard to stay on top of their coursework and assessment tasks while also embracing a range of opportunities beyond the classroom. Many have been actively involved in the Regional Pathways Program, gaining valuable insights into future education, training, and employment options.

Our Year 12s have also thrown themselves into Student Leadership Council (SLC) activities, bringing plenty of enthusiasm and fun to school events. A highlight has included dressing up as "old people" for a themed event. It’s also been great to see a group of boys enter a team in a basketball competition in Bendigo. The Year12 willingness to participate and contribute helps create a positive and vibrant school culture for everyone.

Most importantly, our senior students continue to be excellent role models for younger students. They consistently demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a strong sense of community, setting a wonderful example across the school.

A special congratulations goes to Jordan Ball, who has successfully gained full-time employment with BioGro. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of Jordan's hard work and dedication. We wish Jordan every success as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Well done to all of our Year 12 students on a fantastic start to the year. We look forward to celebrating many more achievements with you in the months ahead.

What an Amazing Start to The Push-Up Challenge!

The first week is done and dusted, and what a fantastic effort from our Wedderburn College community!

Together, we've already completed more than 4,500 push-ups and raised over $750 to support mental health awareness and wellbeing.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our students and staff by participating, donating, or cheering us on. Every push-up and every dollar makes a difference.

All funds raised by our team go directly to Headspace Bendigo, helping support the incredible programs and services they provide for young people in our region.

Let's keep the momentum going as we tackle the next week of the challenge!

Thank you for your support, and keep an eye out for more updates.
