I am pleased to announce that we have 26 students participating in this year's Science Talent Search. These students will be working on a project of their choosing during Term Two. I am looking forward to seeing all of their amazing work.

Welcome back to Term Two in STEM. This term students will continue their focus on Science.

Prep - In Term Two, students are focusing on chemical sciences - the study of substances. They will be investigating what objects are made of. During our first week, students have focused on using their senses (sight, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting) to identify what different objects are.

Year 1/2s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating sound energy and how different sounds are produced. During our first week, students have identified sound as a form of energy made through vibrations and sound waves.

Year 3/4s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating heat energy and how it is generated and transferred. During our first week, students have identified heat as a form of energy, identified different heat sources and used their sense of touch to asses the temperature of different objects.

Year 5/6s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating light energy and how it travels and changes. During our first week, students have identified light as a form of energy, identified natural and artificial light sources and described how the reflection of light allows us to see different objects.
