Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and the College. These conversations allow families to connect directly with subject teachers, gaining a clear understanding of academic progress, areas of growth, and the next steps required to support each student’s learning journey. Taking the time to engage in these discussions can help ensure that expectations are aligned and that students feel supported both at home and at the College.
These interviews also offer an important chance to meet with your son’s Pastoral Care teacher. The Pastoral Care setting plays a central role in supporting each student’s wellbeing, providing insight into how they are managing socially, emotionally and in their day-to-day routines.
A student’s wellbeing underpins their ability to engage positively in all aspects of College life. By attending these interviews, families play a key role in reinforcing this support network, ensuring that their son is supported and guided towards achieving their best.
Holiday Wellbeing Support for Families
As we approach the holiday period, families will have received a letter from our College Psychologist, Annaliese Arthur, outlining a range of supports and considerations to help maintain student wellbeing over the break. We strongly encourage all parents and carers to take the time to read through this information carefully.
The holiday period can be a positive opportunity for rest and connection. However, it can also present challenges for some young people as routines change. The letter provides practical strategies to support your son, including maintaining open communication, encouraging healthy routines, and ensuring they remain connected with others.
Importantly, it also outlines a range of external support services available throughout the holiday period, recognising that College-based supports will be limited during this time. These services are there to ensure that families can access timely assistance should any concerns arise.
If you have any questions about the information provided, or if you would like further guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the College. We would always prefer to work in partnership with families to ensure the wellbeing and safety of every student, particularly during extended breaks from the structure school provides.
Co-curricular Involvement in Term 2
It has been outstanding to see so many of our students embrace the wide range of
co-curricular opportunities on offer throughout Term 1. Whether through sport, clubs or other College activities, boys have shown a willingness to step outside their comfort zones and fully engage in College life.
Co-curricular involvement plays a vital role in a boy’s development. These experiences provide important opportunities to build friendships, strengthen relationships with peers and develop social confidence in a variety of settings. It is often through these shared experiences that boys form some of their strongest and most positive connections.
As we head into the holiday period, I encourage families to take the time to discuss
co-curricular involvement with your son. Reflecting on what they have enjoyed, and identifying areas they may wish to explore further, can be a valuable step in continuing their engagement next term.
A strong sense of belonging is central to each student’s experience at the College and our co-curricular programs are a key driver of this.
Holiday Wishes
As we come to the end of a busy and productive term, I would like to wish all families a safe and enjoyable holiday break. This is an important time for rest and an opportunity to recharge after a full term of learning.
We hope the coming weeks provide an opportunity for families to spend quality time together and for our students to return refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
