The Year 1s are to be congratulated on their wonderful presentation yesterday, of the Palm Sunday story. They recalled Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where people called out Hosanna and placed palm branches and their cloaks on the road. Below are some photos from the day:

Congratulations to our Year 4s, who have made a terrific video retelling the story of the Last Supper. Many of the students in Year 4 are preparing to celebrate their First Holy Communion later in the year, and their work retelling the events we recall each Sunday at Mass is a great way to prepare to receive the Sacrament for the first time.
Tomorrow our Year 6s will lead our school community through a live reenactment of the passion and death of Jesus. Students will be presenting the 14 Stations of the Cross and giving other students the opportunity to pray and reflect on the sacrifice made by Jesus for us all. Parents are welcome to join us at 9:30am if they would like to attend this live Stations of the Cross.
In their continued effort to raise money for new play equipment, the Parents & Friends Committee are organising a St John’s Recipe Book. During Term 2 recipes will be collected from families, online. See the flyer below for more information on how your family’s recipe can become the favourite of many families.

Yesterday our Parents and Friends supplied students who had placed an order for a donut, as part of their final treat day for the term. Thank you to all the committee members who supported this wonderful initiative.
Congratulations to our Baptised students in Year 3 who celebrated their First Reconciliation on the 19th March. Thank you to Mrs Milkovic, Mr Bemelmans and the Year 3 Teachers who prepared the students to receive this Sacrament.

Last Friday the students in Year 3 - 6 participated in our Cross Country trials. The Cross country is a winter event and as such is run in all weather conditions. Our students experienced this first hand as this year’s races were interspersed with some surprise showers! This event helps Mr Geisler to select a team who will represent St John’s at the District Cross Country in Term 2.

Last Wednesday our Year 5 and 6 students travelled to various locations around Wyndham, to compete with students from several other local schools. Congratulations to all the students on the positive way they approached the day and the tremendous sportsmanship they displayed. Thanks also to Mr Geisler for organising the event. Below are some team photos from the day and if you watch our Week 9 Out & About you will see some videos from the various competitions.

As we approach the school holidays the below is a reminder of some rules when riding a bike in Victoria. It is compulsory to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle in Victoria on any road or road-related area like a bike path, bike lane, shared footpath or separated footpath.

Your child's helmet should be:
The right size and correctly fitted – the helmet should be comfortable and not too tight or loose. Caps should not be worn under helmets as they ruin the fit , your child can wear a visor over the helmet to protect them from the sun. Choose a helmet that is not too heavy and provides good ventilation.
Positioned properly – the helmet should sit level on the rider's head, covering the forehead with the rim just above the eyebrows. The straps should be correctly adjusted and the buckle securely fastened. The straps should form a 'V' shape with the plastic strap guide sitting just under the earlobe. Make sure straps are not twisted. The buckle should be close up under your child's chin.
Each Friday the students gather for a whole school assembly in the Hall. This event is usually streamed to our Vimeo channel. Families can view the assembly by clicking on the link which is sent through via our nForma Parent App.
