Welcome to our latest edition of St. Margaret’s e-Smart News. We hope you find the information in these articles to be of great use during the year!
2026 ICT User Agreements:-
The 2026 ICT User Agreements for all students were sent out via an electronic form link on School Stream earlier last term. Thank you to families who have completed the form for their child/children - it is greatly appreciated and a requirement to use technology at St. Margaret's.
Final reminder notices were sent home yesterday to families yet to complete the online form.
Families who received a reminder notice must complete the electronic form no later than this final extended date - close of business on Friday 1 May 2026.
I have to emphasise that we cannot extend this date further, as we are required to follow the e-Safety and ICT Policies in place from MACS.

If your child/children did not receive a notice this means you have completed the online form.
Code Camp:-
Due to ongoing construction works, there will be no Code Camp programs held at St. Margaret's until mid 2026. The school has not made this decision lightly - the health and safety of all staff, students and adults is paramount. Once construction works have been completed the school will look to recommence our partnership with Code Camp.
e-Safety SOCIAL MEDIA AGE RESTRICTIONS:-
The campaign ‘For the good of their wellbeing’ raises awareness of the new Social Media Minimum Age law. The new law, which has been in effect since 10 December 2025 means you must be 16 years or older to have a social media account. Social media platforms will not allow Australians under the age of 16 to create or maintain an account.
This change is designed to protect young people from the risk of harm from social media and to support their wellbeing.

e-Safety Parent Resources and Webinars:-
Some fantastic e-Safety resources containing advice and tips can be found using this link. https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents It is highly recommended that parents explore the useful resources available from the eSafety Commissioner website.
A webinar on Navigating screen time: tools for today’s families will be held online on the following dates: 29 April 2026 (12:30pm) and 17 June 2026 (12:30pm).
This 45 minute webinar explores what quality screen time looks like, how to create balanced family routines, ways to manage boredom and transitions, and strategies to support children’s wellbeing at different ages and stages.
This webinar offers realistic and practical approaches to strengthen digital skills, encourage open conversations, and make screen time more positive and predictable for the whole family. It is suitable for parents and carers of young people in primary and lower secondary school.
