Senior School
As we are heading towards the end of a busy Term 1, it's important to reflect on what has been taking place within the Senior school.
The Year 12 students have been embracing what is both a busy and challenging year. With the first round of SACs concluding, it has been encouraging to see students supporting each other; particularly the large groups of students staying back in the senior area to study and to seek extra support from VCE teachers. Importantly, the Year 12s also received their school badges during an assembly, had a welcome BBQ lunch cooked by the Senior School Team during week 4, have been enthusiastically wearing their new school jackets and enjoyed a pizza lunch provided by the leadership team to recognise their hard work.
The Year 11 cohort have made a smooth transition into their VCE studies. Many students are completing a 3/4 subject and it has been pleasing to hear such positive feedback about their engagement at the start of the year. The Senior school look forward to celebrating the positive start the year level have made with a BBQ on Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Year 10s have been busy preparing for their work experience week in Term 2 and it is pleasing to see so many students already with placements organised. If you don’t have a placement yet, please keep trying and remember to ask our careers team for help.
Additionally, we have also had a very well attended swimming carnival, school cross country, a range of interschool sporting events, study skills sessions presented by Mr McNeil and presentations from members of the Koonung Alumni Society.
Term 2 will continue to be busy. The GAT will take place on June 17, Year 10s will have their work experience week, Athletics Day, mid-year exams will take place for Year 10 and 11s, The VCE Career's Expo, as well as guest speakers and presentations during the assemblies. Lastly, we hope that all senior students and families have an enjoyable break. Be sure to maintain a routine and healthy balance, continue to study with friends, be diligent with organisation in preparation for Term 2, and take time to do things that you enjoy. Please reach out to the Senior school if any additional support is required.

Term 1 has started at a rapid pace this year, in Year 11 and 12 VM. Our Year 11s have settled into the routines of school, work and TAFE and our Year 12s have started their final year of formal schooling with enthusiasm.
This term we have had incursions, excursions and the completion of certifications, adding to the employability and experience of these students.
The Year 11s completed their Construction White Card, in Term 4 last year, in order to be ready for work this year. They also completed the First Aid certification early this term. The 12s have attained certification in the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and the Food Handler’s Certificate. This week they have started their online Financial Literacy course.
Both year levels have had the opportunity to attend excursions. On the 13th of March, Ms Nikita Natsis and the Year 11 VM class attended the Melbourne Grand Prix and a week later, Ms Colleen Siomos took both year levels into the Melbourne Showgrounds to attend the 2025 Careers and Employment Expo.
We look forward to providing more experiences such as these for our VM students, this year.

A very meaningful and insightful visit to the Melbourne Holocaust Museum today where our students' learning was enriched by listening to real life stories and experiences. Attached is a photo of all of our wonderful students with Holocaust Survivor, Gilah Leder.
