Principal's Message

Welcome to the New School Year
We’ve had a fantastic start to the year, and I’d like to extend a big thank you to our students, staff, and families for making it so positive. It’s been wonderful to see everyone connecting with their teachers and classmates and responding so well to our new entry and exit routines. A special welcome to all new students and their families, including all of our prep students who started school yesterday. Thank you to the Prep team for their careful planning to ensure that the children experienced a rich transition program to support their positive start to school.
A special thank you to families for your support with our Nude Food initiative. It’s great to see so many students bringing rubbish-free lunches and helping to keep our school clean and sustainable.
Open Classrooms- Monday 10 February
Families of students in Year 1 to 6 are invited to come into their child/ren’s classrooms anytime between 3:45-5:30 pm as part of our Open Classrooms afternoon.
This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and sit with your child to complete an activity so that you can share their strengths and areas for growth. This will provide valuable insight to set individual learning goals.
We look forward to seeing you at school next Monday afternoon.
NAPLAN Information Evening Monday 10 February
Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN Information Evening will be held on Monday 10 February from 5:00-6:00pm in the Staff Room. This session will provide a brief overview of NAPLAN 2025, including proposed dates for Mount View students. Information will be shared via Compass for all families following this evening.
Mount View Primary School Twilight Carnival- Friday 21 March
We’re excited to start planning our Twilight Carnival, and we’d love your help! You don’t need any specific skills—just a willingness to work with other parents and school staff to make this event a great success. It’s a great way to get involved in the school community, meet other parents, and contribute to this special event.
We will send an invitation to the first meeting via Compass next week.
Twilight Carnival Sponsorship
The Twilight Carnival provides the opportunity to promote your business while supporting our school community through sponsorship.
With over 900 students and 700 families, this event is a fantastic way to showcase your business to a wide local audience. Sponsorship options include advertising on our sponsorship boards and/or in our school newsletter in exchange for a cash donation. Alternatively, you might like to donate a product, service, or voucher that could be used in our raffles.
Your support will help make this event a huge success, and we’d love to acknowledge your generosity within our school community. If you’re interested, please reach out to Lesley in the office—we’d be happy to discuss how we can work together. lesley.shipston@education.vic.gov.au
School Savings Bonus
It’s been great to see a lot of families making use of the Victorian Government $400 School Saving Bonus.
A reminder for families who want to use their funds towards school activities.
- Reallocate the funds from the SSB portal.
- The credited funds will not be visible within the Compass app (wallet).
- Our office will manually adjust the amounts owed for existing Compass Events to utilise your SSB credit.

- If you want to pay for the event instead of using SSB, please contact our office.
Families have until 31 June 2025 to create their SSB vouchers for the purchasing of school uniforms.
From the 1st July 2025, any funds still held in the School Savings portal will automatically transfer to your school account for use against school activities and it will remain there with no expiration, until used.
