Principal's Report

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our start of year 'Welcome Afternoon Tea'.
I hope that you all managed to try a sample of some of the tasty treats our classes had prepared for the event, and that you also had the opportunity to contribute to our shared artwork. If you didn't get the opportunity to join us, please touch base with the office, as we would love to have every family represented in the art display.
Many thanks also to all our staff for their efforts in organising and working with our students to prepare the platters of food, and to Emily for her work in preparing this year's shared artwork; which is a lovely analogy for the year ahead. We all look forward to sharing your child's learning journey with you, and seeing them take flight!
Many thanks also to everyone who assisted with last Friday's Swimming Sports, and congratulations to all students on their participation and sportsmanship! It was so wonderful to hear how successful the day had been and, in particular, the wonderful displays of respect and leadership from our students. A huge shout out to Steph for her organisation and to our volunteers and teachers, from across the cluster, for their role in making this such an enjoyable day. Congratulations and best wishes to all those students who have qualified for the Division finals, which will be held on Friday 21st of February.
On Monday, there was a great deal of excitement, with the arrival of this year's Year 6 shirts. The students were absolutely thrilled with their shirts and we all agree that they look great!
Choir has recommenced and students are invited to come along and join in the fun each Wednesday lunchtime, in the multi-purpose room, with Emily.
A reminder that School Council elections are currently underway. Parents wishing to nominate for council are asked to please complete this nomination form, by Monday 24th February.
Student safety at Mount Beauty is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8.45am.
After school: School grounds are supervised after the end of the school day from 3.20 - 3.30pm.
Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised by our staff unless they are attending OSHC.
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or are accompanied by a parent/carer.
Families are encouraged to contact Kath Lewinson on 0418399861 or refer to the OSHC page of this newsletter, or our website, for more information about before and after school care. Alternatively, you may also contact me at the office, on 57544354, if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.
For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, please refer to our website. This policy includes Mount Beauty Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
