From the Rector

Dear Mazenod Community,
On behalf of our Oblate community, and alongside Mr Simon Harvey, our Principal, I would like to sincerely welcome you all back for our 2025 academic year where we are promoting Moments of Grace as our theme.
Grace is a word which recognises and celebrates God's love for us and moments are those times in our life when we notice and experience it.
In truth, our community and our lives have so many of these moments in them and our goal for the year is to improve on our ability to see, hear and feel them.
One of the earliest graces of the year has been our new Year 13 Program which has seen the College welcome back eight of our 2024 graduates to help our newest Year 7 Mazenodians settle into our high school community.
They have assisted with locks, lockers, class location, standards of behaviour, sports games, loneliness, prayers, Mazenod culture, routines and most importantly, belonging.
This initiative leads the Year 7s into their camp next week and we are extremely grateful for the generosity of our community in facilitating the Year 13s involvement.
Even though Mazenod is approaching 60 years of age, we are still finding new ways to respond to the changing circumstances.
It has been great to welcome so many new students, staff and families as well as those returning.
Our Cebula Boarding Community is worthy of special mention as around 20 new members find their way, including 10 new Year 7s. I give thanks to God for everyone who is working hard to help them settle in and I have a special prayer for each of their families as they adjust as well.
I am currently in Queensland with our College student leaders who are taking part in the de Mazenod Family Education Network Student Conference. Bringing together students from three states for sharing, guidance and companionship has been a joy to experience. We return later this week and it will be good to be home again to see the students continue to work in service for others.
Thanks for taking the time to read this article and I look forward to saying hi to as many of you as possible at all of the College events.
Take Care and God Bless
Fr Michael Twigg OMI
