Communication with Assistant Principal, Llew Humphries: llewela.humphries@education.vic.gov.au
The Acknowledgement of Country which was read during our assembly this week was developed and written by our School Leaders. This acknowledgement was written following a conversation we had about the land we are on. The leaders discussed the importance of giving thanks to the indigenous people who have lived here over the past 70,000 years.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri elders, past, present and emerging for sharing this land that we teach, connect and learn.
We continue to walk together to make a stronger future for this land we call home.
We greatly appreciate the elders for taking care of this amazing country.
Congratulations to our four SWPBL school leaders: Finn, Olive, Bonnie and Jacob.
These four Year Six students will be a fine fit for our SWPBL leaders. They will continue to work with our senior school teachers and Miss Humphries to support the learning of all students and be wonderful role models for our three school values.
Congratulations to the eight students who were elected as our House Leaders. Demonstrating Respect, Responsibility and Resilience in all that you do at our school, in all learning spaces; at school or away from school, is the reason you were voted for by your peers. Mr Scicluna is looking forward to working with you during the year on a number of events linked to school wide activities.
Lucas and Stevie
Edward and Marcel
Charlotte and Maya
Matilda and Isabelle
Congratulations to the above eight students who have been selected by our specialist teachers to support them in their learning areas. Our Specialist leaders are:
Performing Arts: Maya and Evie
Visual Arts: April and Keira
Auslan: Lincoln and Olivia
Science: Beau and Alexander
It was a proud moment as our schools Assistant Principal, to see the above students earn the leadership positions that they have been chosen for. We understand that we have many more students at school that would also be fine school leaders, leaders that inspire others to do great things.
At Upwey South we are proud of the students that we have in all our classes and we continue to support them with making positive life choices and to live the values we have. Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are values that will support students through their lives.
Congratulations to all students on being one of our leaders in 2025.
Llew Humphries.
