2025 House Captains
House Points:
Great to see so many students making positive choices and being awarded house points. As we near the end of the term, continue to be kind to yourself and others and earn your house points.
Foundation:
Over the past three weeks, the Foundation students have focused on refining and practising their Fundamental Movement/motor skills (FMS).
During the first lesson the Year One students had a lesson taught to them by a coach from AFL Victoria. The mains concepts that were taught during this lesson were movement with the ball, handballing and kicking.
The next two lessons focused on developing and understanding some of the core Fundamental Movement Skills e.g. skipping, hopping, jumping and running. These movements were practised through some teamed relays which allowed each student to perform each movement.
Year One/Two
Over the past three weeks, the Year One & Two students have focused on refining and practising their Fundamental Movement/motor skills (FMS).
During the first lesson the Year One students had a lesson taught to them by a coach from AFL Victoria. The mains concepts that were taught during this lesson were movement with the ball, handballing and kicking.
The next set of lessons which both the Year One and Two students focused on were;
Year One: Revisited their underarm throw techniques using the four-step method Tik, Tok, Step and Rock. This throwing method was then applied to some small games such as Level up and Knock them Over.
Year Two: Revisited their overarm throw technique, utilising the strongman/girl stance and action. This throwing method was then applied to some small games such as Level up and stationed activities.
Both the Year One and Year Two students completed their portfolio tasks. The Year One students looked at the Aboriginal Flag and the significance of the Indigenous Culture in sport.
The Year Two students looked at what the value of trust meant. They were provided with the opportunity to list trusted people in their lives and describe why and how they trust those people.
Year Three/Four
Over the past three weeks, the Year Three/Four students have participated in a Golf program which has been delivered by an accredited coach. The purpose of this program was to refine and practise the students striking skills whilst also exposing them to new striking and swing techniques. The three swing styles that were focused on resonated with the three main strokes in golf, chipping, putting and driving. These striking techniques were practised predominately through individual play with some set challenges during each activity e.g. chipping into targets or longest drive. To conclude the program, the students played a game of Bucket Golf which provided them with the opportunity to apply all of their learnings. To witness the student's confidence grow over the three weeks was terrific.
Year Five/Six
Over the past three weeks, the Year Five/Six students have participated in a Golf program which was delivered by an accredited coach. District Swimming
On Friday 28th February, eighteen of our Year Three-Six students attended the District Swimming Carnival at Belgrave Outdoor Pool. It was terrific to watch all of the students give their absolute best. The team spirit on display was tremendous as each student cheered and encouraged their teammates on. From this event, we now have twelve students progress through to the Division Stage on Monday 17th March at Croydon Memorial Pool. We wish these students the best of luck.
