Ms Pinto-Hayes

Welcome to the 2025 school year of sport!

This year, we are continuing to provide many sporting opportunities and events for your child to showcase their talents and abilities in sport, or to simply give it a go!

Please find below some updates and information about current and upcoming sporting events.

CSNSW Aquathlon

On Thursday 19th December 2024, 8 students participated in the CSNSW Aquathlon. An aquathlon is a multi-sport discipline combining swimming and running.

Congratulations to all the students who attended the event and represented our school with resilience and sportsmanship:

Deacon R, Hugo V, Sophia R, Elise K, Alisha S, Anthony R, Orlando I, Cian, C.

A special mention to the following students who placed in the overall results:

Deacon R - 9th overall in Boys 9 Years event

Hugo V - 12th overall in Boys 9 Years event

Well done to all the participants!

Representative Pathway Sport opportunities 2025

As mentioned in the newsletter last year, we will be providing opportunities for Stage 3 students to represent our school at Representative Sport Pathway Trials in 2025. These events are for students who:

  • demonstrate a high level of skill development and talent in a sport
  • have experience playing in regular competition outside of school at a high level, e.g. grade/division 1

These trials are not come and try activities for the students - they must have substantial experience competing in the sport. Please find below the list and dates of the remaining Representative Pathway Sport Trials for 2025. As there are only a limited number of students that can attend these trials in each sport, some sports may require a trial at school prior to select representatives. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

The following dates are for trials in Term 1 2025. There will be further opportunities in other sports later in the year.

Representative Pathway Trials - Football (Soccer) and Netball

In Week 3 of this term, 7 students from our school will be participating in the SCS

Representative Pathway Trials for Football (Soccer) and Netball. We wish all of these students the best of luck.

Football (Soccer): Diego B, Cian C, Thomas R, Leander T, Vittoria S, Elise K, Elizabeth A

Netball: Amelia B, Sephora G, Juliana L

Goalball Opportunity

This term, students will be given the amazing opportunity to experience the paralympic sport of Goalball. Each class will be having one 60 minute session with experienced coaches in either week 7, 8 or 9.

Goalball is a team sport played indoors by athletes with vision impairment. The object of the game is to roll the ball into the opponent’s goal while the opposing players try to block the ball with their bodies. Bells inside the ball help orientate the players by indicating the direction of the oncoming ball. Introducing students to this sport is part of the reverse inclusion strategy. This initiative also aims to teach students empathy, resilience and promotes disability awareness, inclusivity, communication, and physical literacy.

Looking forward to another exciting year in the realm of sport!
