Year 10

Year 11 & 12

Student stars of the fortnight 

VM celebrated Brandon McPhee, Jake Tsopanis, and Millie Collins for their academic integrity and great start to the school year.


VCE Art Making and Exhibiting

Year 11 AME students have been exploring a range of materials, art making techniques and processes. There are images of some of their works in progress. This week they did some ink drawing en plein air of one of our beautiful gum trees on campus as well as some still life in charcoal.

 

Year 12 AME students have been exploring a range of artists and developing their analysis techniques. They have researched Jean Michel Basquiat, iconic Australian artist Brett Whiteley, as well as artists of their choice. Students have trialled mini artworks using the materials, techniques and processes of these artists, as well as being playful with their aesthetic influence.


Year 12 Camp

Year 12 Camp Report – Federation University, Ballarat

On Monday 17, 91 Year 12 students embarked on their final school camp experience at Federation University, Ballarat. Designed to foster team bonding, resilience, and academic motivation, the camp provided students with a unique opportunity to prepare for their final year while enjoying a range of engaging activities.

 

Day 1: Arrival, Guest Speaker, and Group Activities

The camp commenced with students arriving at Federation University, where they were warmly welcomed by staff and settled into the residence. Sonya Karras delivered an insightful session on safe partying, covering topics such as drugs, alcohol, the law, and looking after friends. The afternoon featured fun group activities, encouraging teamwork and bonding. The day concluded with an entertaining trivia night, where students competed in teams for prizes.

 

Day 2: Academic, Immersion and Team-Building Activities

The second day was packed with a balance of educational and recreational experiences. VCE-VM students participated in an immersive experience at UGL Rail and Federation University TAFE, engaging in hands-on activities and informative tours. Meanwhile, VCE students attended a seminar by VCE English assessor Ross Huggard, gaining valuable insights into English exam preparation. The afternoon saw an intense and well-fought dodgeball tournament, followed by a talk on successful VCE habits. The evening featured a BBQ dinner, skilfully prepared by student leaders, and ended with a lively silent disco where both students and staff danced the night away.

 

Day 3: Careers, Pathways, and Exam Preparation

The final morning began with a session by Ms. Loe on careers and pathways, providing students with essential guidance on their future opportunities. Oscar from Elevate Education delivered targeted presentations—VCE-VM students learned about applying for jobs, while VCE students received crucial advice on exam preparation.

 

Final Reflections and Departure

The Year 12 Camp at Federation University, Ballarat, proved to be an enriching experience that provided students with both academic and personal development opportunities. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to bond with classmates, gain valuable study techniques, and feel inspired for the year ahead. A special thanks to all staff who attended and most importantly the students who made this one of the best year 12 camps with their excellent attitudes and behaviours.
