YEAR 7-9 NEWS

Year 7 & 8 Update – A Fantastic Start to the Year
It has been wonderful to see how well our Year 7 and 8 students have settled into life at Western Heights. Over the past fortnight, I’ve been incredibly proud of the way students have embraced our school values of Courage, Responsibility, and Inclusion—and it’s great to see this reflected in the large number of green Chronicle entries being awarded. These positive acknowledgments celebrate students who go above and beyond, whether through their efforts in class, acts of kindness, or their commitment to doing the right thing.
A huge event on the horizon is our Open Night next Wednesday! This is a great opportunity for prospective families to experience what makes WHSC such a fantastic place to learn. If you know families considering their options for 2025, please encourage them to come along—we’d love to showcase the incredible things happening at our school.
As we move further into the term, initial assessments will be running across subjects to help teachers understand how students are progressing. I encourage families to check in with their children and support them as they approach these early academic milestones.
A quick reminder about mobile phone expectations: once students walk into school, phones should be switched off and placed in their lockers between 9am and 3pm. This ensures students are fully engaged in learning and school life.
If you ever have questions about your child’s education, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open, and I look forward to continuing to work with you throughout the year.
