BOOKMARKS: WHC LIBRARY NEWS

Hello and welcome to the Western Heights College library for a new year! There have been lots of new changes to our library that we are excited to introduce you to. Our new opening hours for the library is 8:30AM – 4PM with the library being open till 7PM on Wednesday’s and we are also open Saturday mornings 9AM -12PM.

We now have 2 new areas dedicated to teaching and reading, which means our library is buzzing with students in the library for classes, studying, reading and borrowing. We introduced a brand-new display dedicated to new books that we have in our library catalogue. Keep an eye out on this area as we will be rotating new books around and will be changing throughout the year.

When borrowing books all students can borrow up to 2 books at a time and have them on loan for 2 weeks. Please let our library staff know if you need an extension on any book/s that you have borrowed.

Students can also become Geelong Regional Library members! Our school library is also

home to a small mobile library collection from Geelong Regional Libraries and is open to the school and the public. Any students that are under the age of 18 will need to grab a new member form from the library for a parent or guardian to give approval. There are no fees or costs involved and can allow you more access to browsing and borrowing from our library.

Some other fun and exciting activities that are happening in the library are Chess Club every Tuesday at lunch time. We are also doing a book review callout for any students who would like to write a review on any books they’ve borrowed and read from the library; this is a fun way to let other students know what you have been reading, what you thought about it and help other students who are looking for something new to read.
