Jesus Has Time for All: A Message from the Past Two Sunday Gospels
In the last two Sunday Gospels, we are reminded of a powerful message that resonates deeply with our community: Jesus has time for everyone, especially those who are often overlooked or marginalized. These readings emphasize Jesus’ boundless compassion and His commitment to welcoming all, including children and people living with disabilities.
In one of the Gospels, Jesus welcomes the little children, despite His disciples trying to send them away. His response is clear and loving: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Jesus not only makes time for the children, but He also places them at the heart of His message, showing that even the smallest and most vulnerable among us are deserving of His love and attention.
The following Gospel continues this theme by highlighting Jesus’ healing of a person living with a disability. When others may have dismissed or overlooked those with physical or social challenges, Jesus takes the time to engage, heal, and affirm their inherent dignity. This demonstrates His commitment to valuing every individual, not based on social status or ability, but simply because they are God’s beloved children.
Together, these Gospel readings remind us that Jesus' love is universal and inclusive. He has time for all of us—children, adults, the disadvantaged, and those living with disabilities. His actions encourage us to create a community where everyone is valued and welcomed, where we, too, can make time for others, particularly those who might feel left out or undervalued.
These messages challenge us to see beyond barriers and to recognise the image of God in each person, fostering a spirit of inclusivity, acceptance, and love that mirrors Christ's own. As a school community, let us continue to follow Jesus’ example by making time for all and embracing every individual with the same compassion and care.
