CJC smashing District records!

Congratulations to our 37 students who represented CJC at the Caulfield District Athletics Carnival on Friday at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. In blustery conditions all athletes displayed determination and sportsmanship throughout the carnival. An incomplete CJC team, due to 3/4 camp, finished 5th overall. 

In total, CJC placed in 27 events! This included 10 first place finishers, 9 second place finishers and 8 third places. 

A few special mentions to Elea V who broke the district record for Long Jump and Triple Jump, Mia J who broke the district record for 100m, Noa W who broke the record in the 200m and the 12 girls relay team of Mia, Elea, Paola and Sophie who we believe smashed the previous record by over 4 seconds!

A big thankyou to Mme Baque and Mme Leduque, as well as the numerous parents who supported the students on the day. A final thanks you to Ryan W who assisted Mr van Dyk in the discus event. 

A strong 21-student team has qualified to represent CJC at the Kingston Division Athletics on Friday the 11th of October. More details will come for these students and families. 

From Elea and Mia who both broke records on the day!

On Friday the 6th of September, all students competing in district athletics took a ride to the Duncan McKinnon athletics track. The weather treated us fairly that day, yet we got the slightest bit of rain, and wind. We competed in the following events; high, long and triple jump, hurdles, the 

100, 200, 800 and 1500 metres, shot put, discus and the 4x100 metre relay. Congratulations to all students  who participated in this carnival, and to those who broke records, and qualified for the division athletics carnival. It was a super fun day and a great experience, particularly for those who have not been to districts before. We cheered on our teammates, and talked to kids from other schools. Thanks to all teachers onsite, and organising this wonderful event!
