Year 5

5LH & 5OM

In our Year 5 classrooms we have recently been focusing on poetry during Literacy. During this time we have explored a multitude of language features, through a variety of texts. Such as written examples, songs and even rap. Through our exploration of poetry, a key language feature has been Idioms. We discovered that an Idiom is a type of figurative language in which a commonly used and accepted phrase has a different meaning than what is suggested by the individual words. All in all, Idioms are now a ‘piece of cake’.

Below is a photo highlighting the amazing work completed in our Year 5 classrooms when creating our Idiom Class books. Where students got the chance to display their favourite idiom.
