Sustainability
Sustainability Festival
We went on an excursion to the Sustainability Festival on Thursday the 5th of September. It was at St Kilda Town Hall. So we had to get the train from Sandringham to Balaclava and walk.
When we got there we got our name tags and sat for the welcome ceremony. There were over 250 students and 25 schools. We went to different student led workshops with different activities. One was matching different Australian native animals and plants to their correct names.
We also designed bird boxes. And Beaumaris Primary School taught us how to make tote bags from upcycling old t-shirts.
Port Phillip City Council provided us with morning tea. It was delicious!
There were also awards. We got the “Stepping Up for Sustainability” Award. We met our Federal MP Zoe Daniels and other important people.
We also learnt about native plants and weaved our own headbands. It was a fun day and we hope to teach you some of the things we learned.
Thank you to Ms Hutchinson, Miss Large and Mrs Hewitt and all the parent helpers for taking us on this wonderful experience!
