We were blessed with a beautiful, sunny morning at Chevalier College as we celebrated Father's Day with our dads, grandfathers and special guests. Our Year 11 volunteers took charge of the BBQ breakfast, treating everyone to delicious bacon and egg rolls. The morning was further enriched by a captivating performance from our guitar ensemble and a heartfelt prayer service led by our students. It was a wonderful occasion, highlighting the strength of our community and the special connections we cherish. Thank you to all who joined us for this memorable celebration!
On Friday 30 August, our Year 11 students enjoyed the true sense of occasion and the opportunity to dress up in their finery for the annual Presentation Ball. The elegance and self-confidence of our young people was beautiful to behold, and it was wonderful to see them sharing this meaningful and much-anticipated evening together as a cohort, and with their loved ones.
Thanks to the dedicated and very creative Ball Committee, McGrath Hall was unrecognisable as it was transformed into a Moonlight Garden.
We were honoured and delighted to welcome back Sarah Caddy (Class of 2014) as our special guest speaker. Sarah completed her Masters in astrophysics at Macquarie University in 2020, where she contributed to the development of the Australian SkyHopper Space Telescope – keep an eye out for its launch in the future! Sarah has now completed her PhD this year at Macquarie University, where she focused on finding ways of applying the field of astronomy to big global challenges on Earth.
Chef Rochelle Adonis treated the guests to a scrumptious three course meal served by some of the Year 10 students. Following dinner, and with the formalities concluded, the ever-popular John Field Band drew students and parents onto the dance floor for the remainder of this fabulous evening. Thank you to everyone involved in creating such an enjoyable and memorable event.
Recently, we were thrilled to welcome back members of the Class of 1969 for a tour of the college for their 55-year reunion. It was truly heartwarming to see so many old friends reconnect and relive those cherished memories.
A special highlight was the presence of David Choulai (Chook), who has been living in Papua New Guinea all his life and hadn’t set foot back on campus since 1969. The joy and nostalgia on his face as he walked through the grounds once more were absolutely priceless!
We always love welcoming back our past students and sharing in their fond memories of their time at Chev. Our Development office enjoys hearing from past students and can be contacted via paststudents@chevalier.nsw.edu.au
It was a special night of reflection and celebration as we farewelled the Class of 2024 with a How to Train Your Dragon theme. McGrath Hall was transformed into a mythical, dragon-filled space, complete with candles and fireplaces, and an enormous boat as the central feature, a testament to the creativity and effort of the Valedictory Committee.
A delicious 3 course meal by chef Rochelle Adonis and her team was followed by lots of dancing. The images say it all!
