Reflection September 22 Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B

‘Justice is the harvest of peacemakers from seeds sown in a spirit of peace’

This Sunday’s Gospel is timely. Though written thousands of years ago, the questions and message remains of vital importance today. Why do we start to fight? Is it because we want something we don’t have? Is it because of an ambition we cannot satisfy?

St Anne’s College, as an explicitly Catholic dialogue school, aims to bring peace to the next generation by providing opportunities for young people of all faith backgrounds to be in dialogue. We work for peace and justice by providing young people with opportunities to seek justice through actions that build communities and a better world and not through actions that pull communities and the world apart.

Pope Francis reminds us in his many encyclicals and writings ‘to be givers, not getters’. By being givers and not getters ‘we change ourselves as our care and availability towards others grows. We become freer inside, more like Jesus.’ May we all be givers and not getters as we sow seeds in a spirit of peace and through the mercy of God create that better world.

Sandhurst Season of Creation

September is World Creation Month, in Sandhurst it is called the Season of Creation. As people of action we enter September committed to act for and care for creation. September 1 was World Day of Prayer for Creation and September is World Creation Month. May our actions be founded in God’s love as we make central to our lives the teachings of Jesus Christ this month.

Our School of Wonder Eco Warriors are an amazing example of young people making a stand and Caring for Creation. We ask you to consider what you can do at home to promote and care for creation this month.
