Around the College
The annual Staff vs Students Soccer Match was held yesterday to finish off a busy term.
The suspense has been building for the whole week - the sledging, the preparation, the dare to dream.
In windy conditions, with an excited crowd full of anticipation the rivalry began. It was soon discovered Dinesh was a star for the Staff Team, booting the first goal of the day.
Fake injuries, star moves, and hilarious moments made for a fun filled match with the Staff Team coming away as this year's victors! Well done to all involved!
Footy Colours Day
Students and staff donned their favourite team’s colours on the final day of term for students spreading the joy throughout the College. Whether it was AFL, soccer, or even basketball, the College is filled with a sea of colour.
Recess/Lunch Clubs
Tech Club
Tech Club is becoming an increasingly popular lunchtime activity among students. Ran as part of the regular recess and lunch clubs on Wednesdays each week, Tech Club engaged many students this week across a range of year levels. For some students they attended for the first time today, while others were going back after taking part in previous weeks. Students have been recommending the club to their friends and it has continued to grow. Today's session looked at sphero balls and when they students were asked if they enjoyed the club and if it was fun they replied with a very loud "YES!".
Tech Club is just one of the many recess and lunch programs on offer this Term at the College - it has been great to see so many students taking up the opportunity to get involved.
Games Club
While playing various board games students are further building on their learner assets of communication and collaboration. Some students have become experts at some new games and are now taking the lead role to teach their peers how to play. Favourites at the moment are; Sleeping Queens, Stacking chairs, The Shopping Game and Taco Goat Cheese Pizza.
Students attend ASHEfest
Students across various year levels attended ASHEfest on Wednesday and Thursday last week and participated in ASHELETICS at the at the Rumbalara Football Netball Club.
Hosted by the Academy of Sport, Health and Education (ASHE), the educational community event sees schools come together to celebrate the history and culture of Indigenous people.
In addition to the ASHEletics, the event also includes facepainting, story time with elders, arts and crafts, traditional Indigenous games and dancing, and much more. There will also be special guest appearances from ASHEman and RumbaWoman.
This was followed by the Buroinjin Challenge on Friday last week. Buroinjin is a ball game played by the Kabi Kabi people of southern Queensland. The aim is for a player of one team to run with the buroinjin (ball) and fully cross over the score line at the other end of the field to score a touchdown. Well done to all the students involved and to Rhys Borysiewicz who was awarded MVP for 12/13 boys.
