Directors Update

Director of Senior School - Jennifer Crowden

The Senior School has been a vibrant and opportunity-filled time, with many exciting events and activities taking place. Our students have embraced the chance to engage in a variety of meaningful experiences, contributing both to the school community and their personal growth.

Recently, Year 10 and Year 11 students demonstrated wonderful school spirit by assisting at the St Cuthbert’s Athletics Carnival, supporting younger students and helping the event run smoothly. Meanwhile, Year 9 and Year 10 students had the chance to attend the engaging Bell Shakespeare performance, enriching their understanding of literature and drama. Our Year 10 Child Studies class, along with Year 11 and 12 students, have been actively engaging with younger children from our feeder schools and the Little Bees program, working hands-on to support early childhood development.

As we move further into the academic year, the Year 11 and Year 12 Exam Timetable has now been released, with exams just around the corner. Students are encouraged to begin their study phases in preparation for these assessments. Please remember that we have Homework club every Tuesday in the Penola Block from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

In addition to academics, sports competitions continue to be a highlight, fostering both teamwork and physical well-being. With such success in the recent Southern Netball Championships, sees the teams going to Launceston in November to play in the State Championship.

In the arts, our Visual Art students are hard at work preparing their portfolios. This is an exciting time as they showcase their creative talents and explore new artistic techniques. More information to come in regard to viewing the students work.

As always, we are proud of the dedication and enthusiasm our Senior School students display in all their endeavours. We look forward to more productive weeks ahead.

The Year 12 students' final week promises to be an exciting and memorable time, featuring a range of special events including the Celebration of Excellence ceremony, the Graduation Assembly, the Graduation Mass, Farewell House Assemblies, Dress Up Day, and culminating in the Graduation Dinner.

Director of Pastoral Care - Kim Rowlands

Over recent weeks, we have had the pleasure of meeting with a number of students who were nominated for the various Student Leadership positions available for the 2024-25 period. We are very confident that the student cohort will be well supported by those students who were successful in their applications.

It is with pleasure that I share the final allocation of placements to our Committee Captains.

These students will join our recently elected House Captains, College Deputy Captains, and College Captains to form our important Student Leadership team.

We wish all of these students the best in their endeavours in this role, and we look forward to working in partnership with them to achieve the various initiatives that they shared at the interview. This team will participate in a training session for the student leaders early in Term 4.

It would be remiss, at this stage, not to acknowledge the exceptional work done by our Student Leaders for the 2023-24 period. We will have an opportunity early in the new term to not only thank these students but also to formally commission our new Student Leaders.
