Year 10

Year Eleven 2025

Thank you to all Year 11 students and their families for their support with the subject selection process. Selections will be finalised by the end of this term. I will shortly communicate with the few students who have experienced a timetabling complication.

As part of this process, ViSN enrolments will need to be submitted by the end of this term. The College will liaise with relevant students before the end of this week.

Salvado and John Bosco Challenge

Last week, many Year 10 students represented the College in netball and soccer. Thanks to our many resolute supporters, who continued spectating despite the pounding rain. In addition to the report that Year 10 students have written, I would like to acknowledge Mr McGrath, Miss York and Mr De Pontes, who coached students during the Challenge.

Semester Two Reports

With the end of the term upon us, students are reminded to reflect on goals that they established following their Semester One reports. Now is an ideal opportunity for parents to closely peruse students’ results in SEQTA and have learning-focused conversations with their children. By reflecting on Semester One achievements and results obtained so far this semester, students should be presented with data which indicates learning growth. If this process prompts any queries, please do proactively contact relevant teachers.

A key component of the Semester Two report is that all secondary students will receive a comment which reflects their commitment to various aspects of College life. For a school of its size, Salvado offers a rich variety of opportunities for each young person to flourish. I encourage all students to seize these opportunities to facilitate optimal growth.

Quote of the Week:

Research points to Five Cs – Care, Computing, Cognitive abilities, Communicate and Climate – as key future skill needs. “While not encompassing all the economy’s future skills needs, the Five Cs do point to a range of skills likely to underpin many of the jobs of the future:

Care – the group of skills that provide care and support; and responds to demographic change (such as the ageing of the population) and healthcare needs.

Computing – a group of skills needed to respond to the digital world and the increasing use of digital technologies across the entire economy.

Cognitive abilities – the group of advanced reasoning and higher order skills computers cannot easily replace, especially non-routine cognitive skills.

Communication – the group of skills needed to collaborate and engage within and across workplaces.

Climate – the range of skills required to transition to a net zero carbon economy and respond to the impacts of climate change.”
