Year 7 to Year 9

Thank You for Your Support

We extend our gratitude to all parents and caregivers for helping ensure our students meet the College's expectations each morning; this helps them start their school day in a positive way. As we approach Term Four, please begin preparing for the summer uniform change for the new term.

This week, students have been reminded of their responsibilities when wearing the Salvado Catholic College uniform via Seqta notices:

"When you wear the Salvado Catholic College uniform, you represent our College—whether you are:

  • Catching public transport
  • Going to the shops
  • Riding or walking to and from school

The majority of students represent the College with pride. Let’s continue upholding the high standards of our College in all settings.”

I hope all of our College community have an engaging and restful holiday and we look forward to a fresh start in Term Four.

John Bosco Challenge - Netball

On a rainy afternoon, our netball team faced a challenging yet exhilarating match against St John Bosco. Despite the unfavourable weather and a tough game, the spirit and dedication shown by our players, including Isabella, Kassianna Selou, Sophie Phillips, Mackenzie Williams, Layla Dobbie, Kanar Bol, Olivia Barranca, and Maaya Premkumar, were truly commendable.

Although the final score did not fall in our favour, the experience was a testament to the resilience and sportsmanship of everyone involved.

From the very beginning, it was clear that this game would be a test of character as much as skill. The winds and intermittent rain turned the court into a slippery challenge, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the match. Yet, despite these challenging conditions, our team played with remarkable determination and enthusiasm.

The John Bosco girls demonstrated excellent skill and strategy throughout the game. Their teamwork and agility were evident, and they handled the weather conditions with impressive poise. They were deserving of their win, but it was their sportsmanship that truly stood out. The mutual respect between the teams was a highlight of the game, reflecting the values of fair play and camaraderie.

A special note of gratitude goes out to Mr McGrath, whose support and guidance were invaluable. His encouragement and tactical insights helped keep our team focused and motivated, even when the odds seemed stacked against us. We are also grateful to the John Bosco School for participating in both games, contributing to a competitive yet friendly atmosphere that made the day memorable for everyone involved. Thank you for those who also watched and support our games.

To our own team, thank you for your hard work and dedication. Your commitment to giving your best, despite the adverse conditions, was truly inspiring. Each player brought their own strengths to the game, and it was heartening to see how well we all worked together.

Here’s to more games filled with passion, teamwork, and sportsmanship

John Bosco Challenge - Soccer

Last week, our Year 10 boys had the opportunity to complete against St John Bosco for a second time in a friendly match - this time on our own grounds. Our boys ended up winning the fixture 2:0, with some good football being played from both ends while also displaying great sportsmanship and determination against the very challenging weather conditions. This match was a great opportunity for us to see first-hand what the future could have in store for Salvado in terms of sports and in being able to represent our school.

The backline of George New, Gabriel Chase, Euan Holland, Manjodh Jhinger, Adrian Tawodzera and Sean Mulligan maintained a very solid line a defence throughout the game preventing Bosco from scoring and Brian Francis the goalkeeper had an outstanding performance keeping a clean sheet and making several massive saves to keep the boys up against Bosco. The midfield consisting of Krys Marie Louis, Xavier Young and Andrei Pilli made sure the game was in our favour the whole time, maintaining possession, attacking when needed, as well as putting a shift in and tracking back to defend when needed. The frontline of Atem Atem, Anthony Godinho-McLeod and Tinaye Mataranyika also played a crucial part in securing the win by putting constant pressure on John Bosco’s defensive line and that constant pressure led to both our goals. Xavier Young provided both the goals for the day with an impressive header and a goal catching the keeper off his line.

A special thanks goes out to Mr De Pontes, who coached the boys. Every member of the team appreciates the effort he put in to helping us with training every Monday and showing up for the match. The work he put in with us really paid off, and without him, I’m sure the result would not have been the same. Also, a big thanks to all the parents and students in attendance, Mr Jason Patten for volunteering his time to come down and referee the game, and Edward New and Tedeset Adugna. They were sideline referees and were soaking wet and freezing by the end of the game. We very much appreciated you helping out even with the poor weather conditions.
