Snapshot of Learning - STEM Arcade Machine Project

Last term, St Simon’s ran a special STEM project where students used recycled materials and old classroom computers to create and build two Arcade Machines such as Space Invaders and Pac Man.

The project was conducted during Friday lunchtimes which involved selected Grade 6. The Students used their creativity and critical thinking skills to complete a real world challenge in a controlled environment.

The big question that the students were working on was ‘How can we reduce our

e-waste while also creating something beneficial for our school's student wellbeing?’

The project aimed to empower students to feel like they are able to make mistakes and take risks across a range of differing curriculum based tasks while being supported by each other and our experienced STEM teacher Mr Michael Fitzsimmons.

A special thanks to the students involved Nic H, George, Nic G, Lochie, Daniel P, Smith and of course Mr Fitzsimmons for creating these machines.
